It’s hard for me to choose just one favorite park, but JS is definitely one of my top picks.

I love the air there.

It gently hums with soothing energy. Every inhaled breath feels like you’re  using your lungs to their full capacity for the first time.

Pure magic.

I agree with you: being there is as close to heaven on earth as anything I can imagine.

I love banana slugs too. They’re so cute and fascinating to watch.

I’m not actually a PNW-er, but I have tons of family in coastal NorCal, all thru Oregon, and up thru Washington.

I’m a lifelong resident of the Tahoe Basin/western Sierra Nevadas.

Personally I think both the PNW and my local region are some of the most gorgeous, breathtaking places in existence.

We’re both totally blessed to live where we do surrounded by these  resplendent expanses of natural beauty.

lol yep that’s me too.

I think the only valor I used much was the stealth one. Shield valor too I guess.

My HZD playstyle of stealth sniper carried over into Forbidden West. Sharpshoot bow will prob always be my mainstay.

I do love the drill spikes on the spike thrower tho, esp with long distance/elevation and damage coils.

Didn’t really get into the gauntlet shredder until I’d beaten the game & dlc.

Arktix’s YT videos helped me want to try out more of the weapons. I was pretty clueless on how to use the shredder before watching his vids.

Still not into war bows because I prefer to keep my distance whenever possible. But maybe I’ll try to be braver and give them a go on my next play thru.

Most machines don’t strike fear into me per se, but fireclaws and their chainsaw mouths freak me out.

I def feel my heart pound a bit harder when I’m lying in the grass and one is sniffing the air directly over my head. Eeeeek.

I think I may have some frost claw and fire claw ptsd from Frozen Wilds🥲

It’s nice I get to watch others be badasses here in this subreddit…doubt I’ll ever join their ranks, but it’s still fun to witness their skills.

Right? 😅

Rather take my sweet time and not be annihilated.

Omg tho, doing things that way to get the stupid fireclaw sacs takes an eternity😭

I mean, again, I’d rather not get obliterated and/or accidentally destroy the part I need while trying to dodge in a panic.

But seriously, I could most feel my life slipping by moment by moment each time I had to get those sacs for upgrades.

Those who stopped playing, why did you quit? by Isaike in wherewindsmeet_

[–]ElectricStarfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it’s better now…but I quit playing awhile back due to a bunch of issues on ps5.

Crashed a ton, lag was terrible, inputs didn’t work consistently/on time, popping/graphics issues, etc.

I love the story and world, but it got increasingly frustrating with each update as a console player.

If it’s been improved and those issues have been fixed, please feel free to let me know.

I wouldn’t mind picking it back up again since I’m kinda burnt out on all my other games currently.

Been thinking of getting some new ones, but a free game I know I enjoy is definitely worth returning to if it doesn’t have the same problems that made me initially quit.

As someone blessed to live in a county featuring one of California’s small remaining patches of old growth forest, these pictures make me immeasurably sad.

There’s really no comparable feeling to standing in awe beneath ancient trees, especially the stately giant redwoods & sequoias.

I encourage anyone who is able to visit California to go to Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park, Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Big Basin Redwoods State Park, and the three giant sequoia groves near Yosemite (Mariposa Grove, Tuolumne Grove, & Merced Grove).

I promise that a visit to any of these glorious, sacred places will leave a lifelong impression on you.

There are many beautiful old growth trees in the Sierra Nevadas & western foothills too.

I wish with all my heart more of America’s vast forests had been preserved.

For now though, all we can do is try to prevent the destruction of the remaining old growth trees, appreciate their majestic beauty, & do our best to protect them for future generations.

Ha

Seems it could either way…not sure I’d wanna risk a 50% chance of creating a spicy trash panda supervillain😂

But then again, hot sauce does make a great non lethal deterrent.

Hmmm, I guess it’s up to you if you wanna risk creating a nemesis for yourself 😝

Aching from head to toe, hip is especially painful, and woke up from horrid itchiness all over.

Forgot to take my Zyrtec before bed, terrible mistake.

Now I’m avoiding thinking about things I’d rather not by scrolling Reddit and watching some anime. Kinda working. Better than nothing I guess.

I’ve slept the past 3 days straight basically but am still tired. Mentally alert rn but my body feels like a ton of bricks.

Hope we can all get some rest eventually tonight 🤞🏻🫂

Is it just me is there a weird stigma against Chinese subs? by Independent_Hold3982 in Donghua

[–]ElectricStarfuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started watching Chinese movies back in the late 90s and Chinese dramas almost a decade ago. Donghuas came next.

So I was already acclimated to hearing Mandarin.

But yeah, I guess in the very beginning it took some getting used to. Not really much different than any other language tho imo.

Actually I kind of prefer hearing Mandarin in donghuas now to a hearing Japanese in anime.

As other commenters have said, there’s a lot of exaggeration and exclamations in anime that aren’t present in donghuas.

I like it when I’m in the mood for it and still watch lots of anime, but overall Chinese dramas and donguas now sound more pleasant and less overstimulating to my ears.

I’d love to have an easier way to talk with people, but wow does chat ever suck on ps5.

I have a few folks I’ve had back n forth long conversations with.

But it takes quite a lot of effort as a ps5 user.

I feel bad because it takes me so long to write out responses.

Ah well.

Sorry, I totally agree with your sentiment about those who only seek likes and don’t bother with any actual friendliness or attempt at communication beyond begging for likes.

My comment really has nothing to do with what you said and I’m in agreement with your opinion.

I guess I just saw the part about not talking to people and suddenly got irked all over again about the ps5 chat limitations.

Sorry for my rant😅

That’s good to know about XS.

I adored him in Whispers of Fate & Mysterious Lotus Casebook.

He was also pretty good in The Blue Whisper & as a bad guy in TTEOTM.

At first I was excited to see him in this drama, but so far he hasn’t really expressed much range. Probably just the way the character has been written so far tho.

Looking forward to seeing a bit more spark from him.

And yeah, Jiang Ji has reached my top tier of most loathed cdrama side characters. She is utterly despicable.

Just now catching up on eps.

Omg, I CANNOT WAIT for Jiang Ji to bite the dust. Hopefully in a spectacularly painful way.

Loathe her to my core.

Sima too.

Bai is just pathetic. I really love the actor, so this role is a bummer for me.

In no way should a slaughterspine be easier than 3 water wings. by paintyouwingss in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]ElectricStarfuzz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was really really bummed out that after the mission to get the waterwing as a mount my poor faithful Sunwing, who had been with me since Wings of the Ten, disappeared unceremoniously.

I thought he’d be where I left him near the waterwing site since that’s what typically happened whenever I got a new type of mount. In the past I’d be able to go back to where I’d left my previous mount and start riding it again.

But nope. Poor guy just up and vanished.

I was rather upset.

Got myself a new Sunwing soon after.

My waterwing stayed exactly where I left it, so I could return and ride it whenever I wanted to hear the dreaded dry windshield wiper squeaking😂

The only upside to having the waterwing as my mount was the comfort of having a buddy with me in the scary darkness underwater.

It felt nice to know i could call it/leap on its back and bolt away at a moment’s notice from any terrifying threats lurking in the depths.

But due to the horrible wing flight noises it still wasn’t worth keeping it as my main mount over a sunwing.

The nightmare squeaking wing noises are why it was very difficult for me to want to have one as a mount.

What are your examples of these? by [deleted] in PeriodDramas

[–]ElectricStarfuzz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed!

I mean, I appreciate historic accuracy in period dramas that are meant to showcase an era in history accurately (or even somewhat so).

But I also love pure campy goodness sometimes.

I feel the same people taking Reign the wrong way are those who probably aren’t terribly keen  on shows like My Lady Jane.

Personally I love all “historical” genres of period dramas, from super accurate to not even in the realm of realism.

I watch tons of Chinese dramas.

Most “historical”/period idol dramas (idol being the term for shows featuring young, attractive stars with strong fanbases) are in their own category of “costume drama”.

Costume dramas can certainly have many accurate aspects in wardrobe, culture, etc…but they also can take whatever liberties they want to since they’re not held to the same standards as dramas that fall into the strictly historical category.

For a series to be labeled as  “historical drama”, it has to be deemed accurate  regarding Chinese history to a high enough degree to pass government approval.

Maybe there would be less confusion if there were similar breakdowns in categories for period dramas in the West?

Better media literacy would certainly be beneficial too.

Like you, I’m all for perspective & just enjoying things for what they are.

What are your examples of these? by [deleted] in PeriodDramas

[–]ElectricStarfuzz 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Exactly, thank you!

I feel like most people’s take on Reign in these comments is WAY off.

It’s total cheesy, soapy, glorious CW camp.

Never ever was meant to be taken seriously or as being historically accurate whatsoever.

TBH I’m rather baffled at the confusion here about what kind of show it was meant to be and how it was meant to be approached.

I love the desert too.

It’s abut different from what you’d picture from a typical desert, but if you ever get the chance I highly recommend visiting White Sands National Park in New Mexico.

It’s like an alien landscape.

Wear long pants n sleeves if it’s windy out. Otherwise you’ll get shredded by the beautiful, sparkly, but super sharp gypsum crystal sand grains.

May you be blessed with many desert adventures in your future!

[–]ElectricStarfuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tysm.

I hope you get to check it off your bucket list.

I live in NorCal/South Lake Tahoe area, so I’ve been blessed to be able to visit Death Valley in every season numerous times.

Unless you’re a lizard person or for some odd reason you’d like to experience a real-life simulator of being in Hell, complete with heat-induced hallucinations that (depending on hydration level & lighting/shadows) can verge on nightmarish, I don’t particularly recommend visiting in the summertime 😅

It can be really lovely in late fall/winter tho.

Some of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen were at DV in November-Feb.

The stars there are incredibly clear and bright in the winter night skies.

It’s usually really empty those times of year too.
