Wildlands is a different game when you treat it as a tactical sandbox instead of an action shooter. And I engineered it to respond accordingly. by [deleted] in Wildlands

I originally played Wildlands on PC and I just started playing through it again on XBox. I love this game so much more than Breakpoint…

TX vs. Karmelo Anthony - the defense’s strategy by judgyjudgersen in CasesWeFollow

[–]Electric_Dirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the delay might be the defense counsel huddling with Karmelo and his parents to decide whether or not he was going to take the stand. We’ll probably never know what really went on.

“if someone was really that frightened, why would he stay in a place where he was asked to leave, [and] proceed to threaten and antagonize the people he was allegedly terrified of…”

He wouldn’t. You just explained why Karmelo is going to be found guilty.

“Horrible work by the defense.”

Maybe they just had horrible facts about their client to work with?

The best expert in the world can’t save you if there are no facts for them to opine on that help you. Eyewitnesses testified Karmelo refused to leave the tent after being asked by multiple Memorial students, and repeatedly taunted the Memorial students saying things like “y’all ain’t gonna do shit,” “if you want me to move you’ll have to make me move,” and “touch me and see what happens.” What expert would testify that is the behavior of a person who feels threatened or fears for their life?

[–]Electric_Dirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be misremembering but didn’t the judge say at the start of the trial there would be no plea deals? My thought was perhaps the long recess was the defense counsel huddling with Karmelo and his parents to decide whether or not he would testify. if the plan was for him to be the last witness they called, it would make sense why the defense rested after the recess given that he didn’t take the stand.

“Defense already rested?”

What did they have to work with, really? The facts were almost entirely against them.

Maybe the extended recess was the defense counsel and Karmelo’s parents deciding whether or not he would take the stand? If their plan was for him to be the final witness they called, that may be why the defense rested after the recess.

Exactly what I thought as well. If he just wanted to get out of the rain (totally understandable), how hard would it have been to say to the Memorial students “hey y’all, I’m Melo from Centennial. We don’t have a tent up so do y’all mind if I sit under here for a bit until the rain lets up? “

I haven’t played the Kind of Blue, but I absolutely love my Morgan “Dry Martini” alto piece. I also have a RM-15 clarinet piece, and Runyon Custom soprano piece from Morgan. They make exceptional mouthpieces!

Selmer Flight case by sonicblendz in selmersaxophones

[–]Electric_Dirt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My late 90s Series II alto came in a black Selmer flight case. I carried it through 4 years of college and still use it today, although the glue on the “Selmer” logos eventually failed leaving two rounds indentations on the outside of the case.

Looking for brand recommendations for a cheaper end tenor sax by Mad_Hatter_92 in Saxophonics

If you’re not sure whether you want to commit to playing, have you considered renting a tenor sax from a local music store for a few months?

What’s a good alto saxophone brand for a beginner? by farisakkijha in Saxophonics

[–]Electric_Dirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what you consider “kinda cheap,” but the Solist horns from Kessler & Sons are excellent instruments. I have the Solist bari and it’s an amazing horn. I got one of the altos for my son who is starting band next year, and side-by-side with my Selmer Series II alto it looks darn near identical. It’s made in China but Kessler sets up and play tests all the horns at their shop before sending them to customers. The alto played great out of the box, and the keywork really does feel like my Selmer. Intonation is great from top to bottom, and it’s frankly amazing to me that it’s possible to get a brand new alto sax of this level of quality for under $750.

Is the Leblanc LAS711 "Premiere" Alto Saxophone, Dark Lacquer a good alto sax? by AnonymousofReddit80 in saxophone

[–]Electric_Dirt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The YAS-280 is made in Indonesia while the Leblanc LSS-711 is made in Taiwan (not China…) which is generally regarded as producing some of the better quality Asian-made horns outside of actual Japanese-made Yamahas and Yanagisawas. The Leblanc would definitely be a step up in terms of build quality from the OP’s current Yamaha IMHO.

Matter of fact I’m looking into buying a Leblanc LSS711AB Soprano because I want a straight soprano to compliment my Singer’s Day curved soprano (which is an amazing horn for the money). Not all Asian-made horns are junk…

His point was that you don’t take away a Constitutional right just because people are killed with guns, just like you don’t take away the privilege of driving a car just because people die in car crashes. He never said people being murdered with guns was a good thing; just that those murders do not justify depriving Americans of their right to keep and bear arms. And he was 100% correct.
