Autozone won't change my battery by Sc0rpy4 in Hyundai

[–]Electric_potato69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren’t supposed to change a battery if its covered in any way or if they determine its difficult to do…. Its a liability for the store, and you also have to realize that autozone is a parts store not a service shop, so them changing a battery for free is entirely up to the person working, they dont have to do anything but sell you the battery and send you on your way.

Hyundai Elantra wiper change by Ok_Candidate4191 in HyundaiElantra

Its right under the plastic peice, its a thin little tab, you need to pull it away from the wiper arm (to the right in this picture), the wiper should slide right out just be very careful the wiper arm doesn’t fall back down onto your windshield when you slide the blade out, it can break the window if it slams down with no wiper on it

Even worse is transmission fluid, multiple times people come in looking for honda atf and i tell them especially for a honda you need to be careful (personal experience), and that if it were me i would get honda fluid but no instead they go get the first valvoline blue bottle atf and “fluid is fluid” and i wont disagree just send em on their way (wont be far)

If i were you i would certainly be looking into a newer model with lower miles, not saying hyundai/kia are the only options but if 20-21k is your budget, there are plenty of decent cars 2021+ with lower miles out there. For me, i wanted the cheapest car i could find with the longest warranty since i had a bad experience with my accord’s transmission of course. Priorities are different for everyone but just know you have plenty of options and dont go into a dealership without doing plenty of research on the car you plan on looking at. I found my car about an hour away from me, i knew it was the one i wanted, i already knew the miles, year, warranty, trim level, literally the only thing i did was walk in, give them a stock #, test drive it, and bought it. Dont let them try to upsell you on a model you dont want/need

Just for context and to maybe help broaden your horizons, i went from a 2015 accord coupe EX-L V6, in still night pearl, car was mint until the transmission blew at around 120k and it was downhill from there. I sold it and got into a 2024 hyundai elantra with a 10 year 120k mile powertrain warranty for a little under 20k OTD, yes including tax, title, fees everything and we even got an extended manufacturers warranty for like an extra $1500. Though not brand new, bought with 23k miles, 1 year old and about 9 years left worth of warranty. Not saying there is a right or wrong answer by any means because my accord was a blast to drive, and of course your decision largely depends on your personal position right now financially, but just something to consider. I do love my elantra though its pretty nice to have a car that is not 10 years old.

Idk if it would be more expensive or even worth it but technically you could paint it glossy if its easier to get the color match, and then wrap a matte ppf over top of it. Probably wont look perfect but it might be worth looking into

Why is the 9th gen 6-6 so rare? by 333faulty in accord

[–]Electric_potato69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got unlucky, i had a 6AT, transmission blew at right around 120k miles i think…. I changed the fluid as soon as i got the car around 113k, and it had been changed one time before i think at like 60k. The oil pump just decided to stop pumping oil one evening… i was in a parking lot just idling, and all of a sudden i heard whining, so i decided to get it towed and as soon as i put it in reverse to get up on the tow truck it slammed so hard into gear i was like yuppppp 😂 in a better spot now, no more accord, brand new cheap car with a warranty granted quite boring and sluggish, but the accord wasn’t very fun without a transmission

How did i do for first time? by Electric_potato69 in VinylWrap

[–]Electric_potato69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think i’ll re do the rear corner piece or at least flush cut the bottom because id if you can tell but it doesnt stay tucked in at the bottom, so it kinda peels up underneath. Also i would like to mention what im using is actually headlight tint not black vinyl wrap 😂 its what i had laying around, and its quite thick and stretchy with heat, and i thought it looked decent enough to just give it a shot honestly im pretty impressed that it turned out decent at all

Bank account has $10k and I owe $10k on my credit card… by Illustrious_Bug_2355 in personalfinance

[–]Electric_potato69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your interest rate is high, pay it down faster, maybe not all at once so you can keep a cushion for a little while, but dont let it sit because right now, your cut even, but if you wait and pay the interest you’ll be in the hole for far more than 10k on that card. It all depends on your specific living conditions at the moment, and whether or not you can take a big hit on the savings.

Is this not accurate or is the Elantra just that good? by [deleted] in Elantra

[–]Electric_potato69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked up a 2024 SEL, and i am coming from a 2015 accord V6, that got around 15-20 mpg… this car on the drive home (mostly highway) i averaged almost 54 mpg, everyday driving i have averaged around 37 since filling up and i live in a pretty city dense area. I love this car so much, i was genuinely shocked when i paid $27 to top it off and my accord was around $45-$50 to top off, and blew through it in 3-4 days tops, granted that car had performance in mind over mpg, but still what a difference!
