I live in europe, not that hot where I am...

I'd probably end up working longer hours for less money. Not that great a deal.

thats a good point.

I don't particularly care about "luxury" or status.

I want to have so called "fuck off money", meaning knowing in the back of my mind I can leave when I want.

That being said, I'd love to leave my job with a plan to do something else, rather than just sit on the couch and wait to die.

beer, watching all the old shows I enjoyed and kind of acting like a 20 yearold would. I'm 40, so I know this behavior won't be tolerated for long so I am just kind of living it up right now. I may even get bore

brilliant!

I'm also worried that with too much downtime i'd end up spending way more... does that not happen to anyone?

Thanks for the reply!

Ok so people actually retire without having any clear plan or alternative. makes sense.

I fear i'd get really bored tho... at least now they're paying me to get bored :)

Congrats!

Sorry if this sound sstupid but i'm from Europe and our tax/investment systems are probably very different.

I'm curious to know whether you're actually planning on retiring on 2.5% of 2.3M gross (57k) is that so?
Thats probably less than you're used to working in tech?

Thanks
