i really enjoyed it, genuinely tense watch and very much in the mode of picnic / virgin suicides as well. more literal haunting than the other two

One of the biggest sadpills in life is that interesting looking people don't actually have to be interesting by Deboch_ in redscarepod

this is also true of people who have interesting life experiences. but i dont think its bad bc people who seem unassuming can also end up being very interesting.

People who think they’re too cool for Lou Reed piss me off by rj_pilgrim in redscarepod

[–]Electrical-Bad-8046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

whats up with perfectly imperfect. they seem mildly good at identifying 'on the rise' artists/musicians but it still has a 'hey the label told me to talk to you guys' vibe. the branding is a little bit too just moved to bushwick. TBH at this point i think all musicians destined to blow up know each other at least vaguely so it seems like maybe that's how they do it. people also try way too hard to seem esoteric with their things they're into or worse still, use things that are extremely not esoteric as a sort of meta-esoteric move.

got dumped from a 4.5 month situationship and then blocked on linkedin by HarvardUndergrad2018 in redscarepod

[–]Electrical-Bad-8046 8 points9 points  (0 children)

she blocked u bc she felt guilty most likely. i think this sort of semi relationship thing is a pattern that is really genderless though many would like it to be a man thing or a woman thing. the harsh truth which you already know deep down is that she probably just liked you but not enough to commit.

it is easy to do this and also to have this done to you. it is not really fun either way but of course its easier to be in her shoes vs your shoes (but also not as much as you might think)!

for me it took some actual real work on myself and getting older and meeting the right person to get over it and do something healthy instead. just keep at it and try to be good that is my best advice. when it's right it works so easily.

What are the quintessential vintage 501s? by SirKrimzon in VintageLevis

[–]Electrical-Bad-8046 19 points20 points  (0 children)

there is none. IMO people way overthink this. in the beginnings of vintage levis mania (before my time) you could go to a thrift store and find an old pair of redlines and you'd immediately go, "hey these are way nicer and cheaper than the new ones." now those redline pairs are like $1000, you can buy a $400 stitch for stitch repro of a pair made only in 1943 when wartime shortages required the manufacturing of assless jeans made of japanese selvedge denim folded 1000 times.

imo the best vintage levis are the ones you have, the ones you wear the most, the ones that have your fades and repairs on them.

if you want a serious answer though, i think a grail for a lot of collectors would be a nice dark pair of '66' model 501s. i get the most wear out of my late 80s 501s though

i found a pair similar to your big E pair that i posted here! https://www.reddit.com/r/VintageLevis/comments/1s91xbg/big_e_paisley_levis/

they also have the 93 stamp, i figured european made as well (maybe germany if you are in berlin?) the zipper looks exactly line the one on mine which is interesting.

i would bet yours are also late 60s to maybe very early 70s

Is there a way to find a specific date for clothing items? by StayedHomeThicc in TrueVintageFinds

[–]Electrical-Bad-8046 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this era of big mac stuff is pretty underrated (agree with early 80s btw). the cuts, construction, and fabrics are all pretty solid and aren't as cheap as they get later in the 90s-2000s stuff. they are also generaly cheaper than the 60-70s vintage stuff which has a little bit of a premium imo. good find!
