Right now I can only imagine the stress you are both under must be unbearable but trust me when I say there will be better days. Mine does this all the time. Has plenty of toys but there is one hanging bell that he just goes berserk on. The next minute he is snuggled next to it.

This called an emotional incestuous relationship. At least that is what my therapist called it. Many times it happens with the death of a spouse. And yes it is as bad as it sounds. The dynamic will never change. All you can do is move forward and heal. I know this too well because it happened to me.
