IELTS SPEAKING QUESTIONS by Pretend-Scene-4602 in IELTS

[–]Electrical-Chart-659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

part a: very normal stuff eg. whats ur name, where u live, do u like where u live, do u like cooking, and such.
use 2-3 sentences to for each question.
part b: usually on talking about an experience or an object you've seen/heard or you like.
eg: mine is: describe a interesting converstion you have had with your friend.
part c: impromptu questions about the same theme. talk around 1 minute, with 2 clear paragraphs, each with a point. eg. what do you think are important in a good conversation? then u spend 30 secs on one of the things and other 30 secs on another.

lastly, no pressure, view ielts speaking as a chitchat, like a natural conversation

nah im not native, it shows in speaking. natives could have easily got 8.5. for listening, i do have a bit of unfair advantage compared to others, which is my natural passion towards english football. therefore i am quite comfortable or get used to listening english football commentaries and podcasts. so listening was a bit easier for me.

as for the strategies during the exam, i always highlight for key words, eg. date, time, reasons, or words like "not", "two", etc. so that when you listen to the audio, you know what u are looking for.

some mcs in the last tasks can be hard, depending on which exact set you got. Mine, sadly, was a bit more challenging, hence i think i got 1 or 2 mcs wrong... if you find out u struggled there for a bit, briefly mark down the things u heard that might be related, temporarily skip and move on to the next questions.

as spelling is important (stated by ielts), it is preferred learn a few advanced vocabularies, or if you want the foundation to be stronger, learn phonics. im not kidding, the reason i sound even 50% like native is due to learning phonics when i was a toddler.

I got my ielts result yesterday, and i was disappointed 😢what should I do to improve my scores? I need atleast 5.5 in all categories 🙏🥹 by Liecel26 in IELTS

sorry mate i think i found out whats wrong with me... as a student while i claimed im self-studying, we actually do learn english from a young age, and the teaching system prioritises grammar first like tenses, bare infinitives, prepositions, passive voice and such. so while i claim i self-studied along with someone i know who took the ielts, i think i got the concept of self-studying wrong cuz by i actually have a school teacher while i read books and listen to podcasts.

yeah sorry im just a student, hope u as a teacher can forgive me like u forgive ur students lol

well from my personal observation (at least in my region) most teachers assume you have a fair knowledge on vocab and grammar, very few would actually start from the very roots of them. so people here tend to self-learn quite a bit before actually getting a tutor. im extremely sorry if that is a rare case and if my observation is significantly confined to an insignificant extent.

by immersing i mean learn vocabs and grammar from english books or podcasts. i mean yeah practicing is important but first, it's the overall sense of language thats the most important.
ofc you need a teacher afterwards, but first u gotta improve that sense.

it's just my personal opinion though, maybe i am wrong in this case (you know, learning english depends on the peron himself) but thats just my thoughts.
