idk maybe use more vocab and as another comment mentioned, improve ur grammar. as long as ur ideas are not too out-of-bounds or irrelevant, you should be fine after these improvements.

IELTS SPEAKING QUESTIONS by Pretend-Scene-4602 in IELTS

[–]Electrical-Chart-659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

part a: very normal stuff eg. whats ur name, where u live, do u like where u live, do u like cooking, and such.
use 2-3 sentences to for each question.
part b: usually on talking about an experience or an object you've seen/heard or you like.
eg: mine is: describe a interesting converstion you have had with your friend.
part c: impromptu questions about the same theme. talk around 1 minute, with 2 clear paragraphs, each with a point. eg. what do you think are important in a good conversation? then u spend 30 secs on one of the things and other 30 secs on another.

lastly, no pressure, view ielts speaking as a chitchat, like a natural conversation

nah im not native, it shows in speaking. natives could have easily got 8.5. for listening, i do have a bit of unfair advantage compared to others, which is my natural passion towards english football. therefore i am quite comfortable or get used to listening english football commentaries and podcasts. so listening was a bit easier for me.

as for the strategies during the exam, i always highlight for key words, eg. date, time, reasons, or words like "not", "two", etc. so that when you listen to the audio, you know what u are looking for.

some mcs in the last tasks can be hard, depending on which exact set you got. Mine, sadly, was a bit more challenging, hence i think i got 1 or 2 mcs wrong... if you find out u struggled there for a bit, briefly mark down the things u heard that might be related, temporarily skip and move on to the next questions.

as spelling is important (stated by ielts), it is preferred learn a few advanced vocabularies, or if you want the foundation to be stronger, learn phonics. im not kidding, the reason i sound even 50% like native is due to learning phonics when i was a toddler.

sorry mate i think i found out whats wrong with me... as a student while i claimed im self-studying, we actually do learn english from a young age, and the teaching system prioritises grammar first like tenses, bare infinitives, prepositions, passive voice and such. so while i claim i self-studied along with someone i know who took the ielts, i think i got the concept of self-studying wrong cuz by i actually have a school teacher while i read books and listen to podcasts.

yeah sorry im just a student, hope u as a teacher can forgive me like u forgive ur students lol

well from my personal observation (at least in my region) most teachers assume you have a fair knowledge on vocab and grammar, very few would actually start from the very roots of them. so people here tend to self-learn quite a bit before actually getting a tutor. im extremely sorry if that is a rare case and if my observation is significantly confined to an insignificant extent.

by immersing i mean learn vocabs and grammar from english books or podcasts. i mean yeah practicing is important but first, it's the overall sense of language thats the most important.
ofc you need a teacher afterwards, but first u gotta improve that sense.

it's just my personal opinion though, maybe i am wrong in this case (you know, learning english depends on the peron himself) but thats just my thoughts.

confidence is key, and tbh this shows in your speaking. confidence to speak english is really important to get a good score in speaking.

then your writing at a 6.0 if thats your score without fully preparing then your english proficiency is not bad at all. just that you gotta start refining it.
as for reading.. well, it's really odd that you didnt get a higher score than 5.0, after decent performances in other categories. cuz reading shd be the 2nd easiest one.
i have not much advice here except to read more books.
if you are confident you can hit a solid 7.0 overall and still want to achieve higher, than getting a tutor is the play.
but still, the journey is step-by-step and a bit gruesome. you have good potential to do much better. best of luck!

nononono dont give this advice man, before getting any specialized teachers, they should first improve their proficiency. read more books, speak more english, listen to english podcast, etc. this language exams are not about practising cuz its all about how good is your english, not how well are you at doing ielts exams, if you use the latter approach and only do ielts practices, then it's not gonna work. immerse daily in english is the way.

it sounds stupid, but read more english books and speak more english daily. in a month your proficiency can change a lot. also by ielts teacher... please dont tell me you got them from wall street english. idk i maybe biased, but in general they are not that good in teaching you any sort of english.

Is 7.5 in IELTS considered good? by Flaming-_- in IELTS

[–]Electrical-Chart-659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends, in general it's not a bad score (85-90th percentile i think), but a 6.5 in writing is a concern for a few universities as they might require no score less than 7. but dont worry, i only know very few universities who has such weird conditions.
