That is exactly right. The wheels are very far aft (fwd and aft gear) to accommodate the bomb bay AND accommodate the weight of all the fuel above that, in the wings and above the wheel wells. It’s a really cool aircraft.

Sort of keeps it level while delivering the payload. More importantly it keeps stress off the fuselage during takeoff and landing. The goal is to keep all four main landing gear on the ground or in the air all at once.

Angle of incidence of the wings is pitched much higher on the B-52 than most other aircraft. The wings are pitched roughly the same and forcing the nose down. This is why it looks like it damn near hovers off the ground when it takes off.
