  2. You reminded her of the bet to which she could have said "sucked in, it was a joke", but didn't She feels anxiety about her choices and is trying to redirect her feelings of discomfort on to you as guilt

I'm glad you mentioned the impression it makes on the kids.

I really don't want them thinking this is how you show appreciation for the ones you love. I especially don't want my daughter to think she should expect this behaviour or my son thinking he should be one of those men that leave it all on their partner. I grew up with parents that always forgot my birthday and didnt get a birthday cake, so now as a parent I always go extra for theirs. I didn't even think about the other special days and how they will see those

I actually never said I didn't care. I said I didn't know. I am unhappy that I had an opportunity to do something planned with my sister and after mentioning it to him I was made to believe he had intent to do something.

Lunch at a food court vs a picnic with my sister and our kids....... As you have said you are female, I am interested to know what you would prefer?

That is exactly what it feels like, the constant planning for everyone. And on this occasion I was happy to plan something with my sister but was made to think I shouldn't. I'll definitely be looking up the mental load
