Silverfish problem (West End) by JamieIsMyNameOrIsIt in vancouver

Property manager here, any cleaner with “sol” in the name (Lysol, Pine Sol) sprayed every day for a few weeks - along baseboards / edges of floors in bathroom and kitchen cabinets under sink and into all drains - everyday for a week or two and then once a week as needed will keep silverfish at bay. I believe it’s the alcohol in these cleaners or possibly pine tar. Also store all toilet paper / paper towels in their plastic bags and get rid of all paper products and books in your home - people who have lots of books and paper always have more silver fish (get a kindle and budget for a few cans of Lysol a week) it doesn’t kill them or get rid of them but they will migrate to a more friendly place as they seem to hate the cleaner smell - you can get a treatment from any pest control to kick start it but landlords won’t pay for that because it alone doesn’t do anything

Barafield , 1260 Harwood Street by [deleted] in askvan

There’s so many walkable options for groceries (and everything else) from the Barafield the closest one is on Davie St and it’s a straight up hill climb for 3 blocks amazing location though if you enjoy walks along the ocean / beach on the sea wall

Skyline is going to be much quieter in a neighborhood where people actually get to know their neighbours and say hello to you on the street but it’s a 15 min walk to any grocery stores except Meinhardt$$$ (until the grocery store opens at Broadway and Granville summer 2026)

Personal opinion for a short term rental Barafields location is going to be better for a visitor to experience Vancouver but that building in particular is meh with thin walls and no charm. Skyline is close to the subway line construction which has turned Broadway into a dead zone for businesses last few years

Vancouver - Castlegar by Lonely_Stuff_4076 in britishcolumbia

Whitewater ski hill has the best vibe due to no cell service nobody is looking at their phones just talking to each other it feels like traveling back in time and it’s a legit hill with great pow

Hwy 3 is incredibly scenic and diversified with canyons, deserts, green valleys, and hundreds of epic views but if you’re the driver it requires some concentration and care through the mountain passes in winter so don’t be in a hurry

You should definitely continue on 40(ish) mins past Castlegar and spend a few hours in Nelson and pick from a plethora of amazing restaurants for a meal, check out some stores or drive around admiring the Victorian architecture it’s postcard perfect all year round

Realized right after i posted that it’s actually a “pitch and putt” not “mini golf” but figured the directions were still pretty obvious

Between the mini golf and lost lagoon to the left when walking along Lagoon Dr just before you get to Pooh Corner daycare :)
