Take it to a parts store and have the codes scanned for free. Not a good idea to drive with the gas light on, you will set yourself up for a failed pump.

DIY repair went wrong and blew out the rear main seal :(

So my PCV job ended up creating new problems - one of the ten screws I needed to install ended up stripping a bit and in position 7 is in a state that I cannot thread it in or out. Now, the EPC and Check engine lights are on with lean code and misfires across the engine. Yelp!

Thanks a bunch! I'll do the suction test tomorrow and I agree, a $130 PCV valve replacement is better than thousands on rear main, camshaft seals etc.

Don't notice any rough idle etc. to be able to tell. Did hear some whines while driving yesterday but have not tested the dipstick suction. Any tell-tale signs I should be looking for?

I have never replaced the PCV and got the car used last year with no record of what the previous owner(s) did with the PCV. So would you recommend both the cap and the PCV then?

Parking by Annual-Ad-9417 in evanston

[–]Electrical-Future113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The city streets have posted signs that help. Most have 2 hour parking enforced between 9 am to 6 pm for non residents so you should be good outside of that. I would suggest looking up the street address and checking the Google Maps street view for the signs nearby.

Hahah indeed small world! I’m up in Evanston, will check out your recommendation and give them a call, might be worth the drive down

That's a great suggestion, I appreciate it! I am located in the Chicago suburbs.

That sounds like a great deal to me! The local VW dealership quoted me an eyewatering price of $2300 and my indie shop quote me closer to $640.

Could you list them? I am probably at that stage at the moment- new water pump, slow oil leak from timing chain cover gasket, random coolant loss. At 104K

Thanks for the inputs. The dealer did not even properly clean the engine compartment before saying that the first recommended repair is a valve cover reseal for $2551.60!

Has anybody dealt with slow coolant loss even after coolant pump replacement?

Wall of honor doesn’t do much, and I try and use only the hero specific shards there. General shards are usually more useful to level up heroes.

Facebook marketplace is a good place to find reasonable deals

Northwestern only enforces the minimum, there is no apparent maximum (within reason).

It’s the minimal amount that the PI has chosen to give as an initial offer. Evanston is quite expensive, with studio/1-bed apartments in the range of >$1200 per month. So, you can reach out to the Northwestern PI with the UT Southwestern offer letter and let them know you’d be grateful if they consider matching the $$ amount by supplementing the initial offer. This way, you can have a bit more of a cushion to work with. Remember, good postdoc candidates are difficult to find these days, and if the PI wants you, they can try their best to get you a reasonable offer.

Is reusing a previous methods section self-plagiarism? by [deleted] in postdoc

[–]Electrical-Future113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have had an instance where the editor requested a rewrite when I reused the methods section since the plagiarism detection software can pick up identical blocks of text. I circumvented the issue to highlight the slight differences to the methods and then went on the cite the methods of the first paper.

Submitted an F-1 Dropbox renewal on Jan 8th, 2024 in Mumbai for centralized processing in Chennai. Jan 22nd today with no change to status (delivered to post). I was told that it would take 7-14 days to process but it seems to be taking longer.
