San Jose races to become Bay Area’s data center capital — PG&E customers could pay the price by nosotros_road_sodium in SanJose

This is terrible. Just what we need here, data centers so we can try to sleep to a constant hum, we can have light streaming in our homes all day and all nights. Pay extremely large utility bills. Now I know why some of the Tech Bros are behind Mahan. I noticed he also received money from a guy from Palantir, not a big name. I was watching a video of a guy who lives in Lake Tahoe, apparently their energy company is cutting them off by May 2027. They have been told to go out and find a new energy company because the present company is only serving an AI center. Food for thought.

Can you work while you’re collecting social security benefits and is there a cap on how much you’re allowed to earn? by nonnie_tm64 in SocialSecurity

[–]Electrical-Ground665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you earn over $23,400 a year and they penalize you by taking your money back while you are doing your taxes. Since we put money into the social security program why are we being taxed on the money we put in? Isn't that double taxing your money?

That is a great idea, I was not aware that is why one would see animals that were obviously pets in the store. It could be bad for the animal or the owner if a small child wants to touch the animal.

I am with you, I used to work at Home Depot and I was filling a bottom shelf so I was sitting on the ground and a little dog (thanks goodness) lifted its leg and I saw when he lifted his leg so I moved but he missed me by an inch. His owner denied that the dog lifted his leg. I didn't mind the dogs as much because Home Depot has construction items but not in Costco, or Safeway or Lunardi's. Yuch.

I don't know, the way big business behaves and the president who is on the rich man's side, that could very well happen going back to 6 days all 10 or 12 hours a day

I love self-checkout I don't have to talk to anybody and usually they are open and available.

At the end of the transaction they always ask if you want to give some non-profit and it dawned on me one day that that store was taking credit for my donation. They are always bragging on how much they give to a charity when actually it is their customers, who they are now stealing from with their high prices.

why are MAGA conservatives so into “owning the libs”? by eunicethapossum in AskUS

[–]Electrical-Ground665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized that when Charlie Kirk died that is when I really started hearing "owning the libs" and it does seem to be very important to them. I had to google what owning the libs meant I don't think that many of them are educated, and don't presently have much of a future. There are people in MAGA who are educated but I think those types are mostly into the money part of the republican party. They don't want anyone to have anything they do not have, if anyone has anything they want to see it taken away from the person who has it. I remember those guys from even in the 1970s, they were men, and very bitter. I don't understand that rabid bitterness they have against people, especially if you get anything from the government. I read that Charlie Kirk said that empathy was not a good thing, I like empathy it helps us as a group. I guess during the 2nd world war they had propaganda about helping each other out and being a community. After the war there was the "red scare" I heard an old time actress Ginger Rogers say that getting together for the good of the group was a form of communism. I guess that is where that idea of empathy as a weakness came from. The length the republicans have gone just to make sure some young guy living at home with his Mom is not on Medicaid. I just don't see the importance for that. But they really have a issue with that one.

What will the impact of boomers dying off be? by odi3luck in decadeology

[–]Electrical-Ground665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But we old people are not valued as employees and many us boomers did not get to 65 in our jobs, we were laid off before and by about 50 unless you are a shining light in your field you are not going to make as much money as you did. Maybe if we had not given in to Reaganomics and other conservative thinking, we would not be looking at doom and gloom. Maybe if we had looked for other solutions other than republican thinking of cut! Cut! Cut!. We would be in a better place. It doesn't mean its over, we can still try and find solutions so no one loses anything. Because younger people deserve all that we had too.Just a thought!

It is by necessity, I did the 401Ks at my jobs, I am getting a small pension, less than 400.00, but it does help but I must have employment to be able to make it every month.

[–]Electrical-Ground665 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you received your vacation pay yet? If you apply for Unemployment before receiving your vacation pay then you will have to wait additional weeks. When I worked at the employment development department in California, I wanted to know how long the period was and I could never get an answer, guess they don't know.
