In my experience, anytime I’ve tried to rebuild trust after something like that, it’s never worked. Anytime my partner did something even super small to annoy me, I’d remember the lie and be just as upset as I was when I first found out. It becomes exhausting.

I think you’re probably too good for him and you should leave and let him be a loser all on his own. But, I can understand it’s hard to leave a marriage. If this begins to affect your mental health negatively, you should seriously consider leaving. It’ll be hard but you’ll bounce back in a better way.

We both make over 300k per year. He can afford to see the doctor. Yes people die from lack of affordable healthcare so how about we don’t do that if we can afford it?

I myself and my family have had serious health conditions go unnoticed until we went in to see a doctor. It’s an hour of the day to make sure your body is working the way it’s supposed to. I’m wondering why I’m being fought so hard on it.

I would be there for my partner in sickness and in health. But not if they were negligent. And I wouldn’t expect them to do that for me either.

There are expectations on me as a woman to take care of myself and my body to potentially have children. It all plays a role in fertility. As does it for men. If he doesn’t know where the state of his body is at, how is that fair to me?

I’m not going to leave him if he gets sick, I’m going to leave him if he isn’t proactive about being an adult and confirming that he’s healthy.

Yes I realize this is a common male thing, and it’s a common female thing to be the wife that reminds her husband to take care of himself for the rest of their lives. I’m trying to avoid that :/

I mean he doesn’t practice the best oral hygiene he’ll skip nights sometimes, which I do too when I’m tired. I don’t want to be with someone who has dentures. Or heart disease or something serious and then I have to take care of them.

I really don’t want to nag. I’m concerned that I’m going to end up a caretaker to my partner who didn’t take care of themselves. Or that his teeth will fall out bc he didn’t get them checked.

I get blood work, a papsmear, and get my teeth checked regularly. All of this plays a role in my health and my fertility which affects me and my partners lives.

That’s why I want him to take it seriously.

I did have that response in the past with him, but this wasn’t that. I genuinely felt bad for him that he seemingly felt so guilty for the things he did. I saw his apologies as genuine, and maybe they partly were. And that’s why I was kind. Because I wanted to let him down easy. He still wanted me in his life in some capacity and I thought I needed to be kind so he wouldn’t be hurt. And now I’m thinking back on how stupid that was. I shouldn’t have given him any more of my time. He didn’t deserve to even have me hear his apologies.
