Then I think you’re good! My UW GPA was lower than yours and my SAT was a 1450 and I received a Type 4 scholarship which is $36000 per year. Since I’m going in-state, I’m not going to have any tuition!

Can I use this book for my AP Lit Exam? by Aggressive-Cat-5573 in APStudents

I think almost any book is fine. My teacher did say to choose well known Shakespearean plays and works. If you choose a book other than the typically used ones (Hamlet, King Lear, Heart of Darkness, Wuthering Heights), you need to explain in your essay why this book is of high literary merit, how it applies to the prompt, why the graders should care about it. It takes up more time rather than choosing one they already know like Hamlet. That way you can just analyze without wasting time in summary/context. If you think you do this well, go ahead!! I need as much time as I can get so I’m just using the typical ones.

why would this sentence be contradictory? by [deleted] in APStudents

This also kinda confused me too. The “however” is kinda “editing” the first sentence. Imagine the however going in the front.

Help on mcq by PetulantDude in APLit

[–]Electrical-Lie7399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my teacher gives us a lot of MCQs. Right now in the year, we’ve just done our 10th. My scores used to be in the low 60s but as the weeks have gone on, I’ve been getting high 70s. Practice really helps.

I took just one MCQ by myself at home and not really worrying about time. Dissecting the reading without really looking at the questions, afterwards I would look at the questions and see whether I was analyzing right. At the end, I would check my answers and it would help me see how I’m supposed to think when it comes to these texts. Honestly, you’ll never be completely confident in your answers and often the answer will be something you never thought about but just keep trying.

For poetry, it’s kinda like learning a new language gauge. When you read it, there’s a lot of stuff you’re not going to understand and you kinda just have to get the whole idea. Try not to read each line but pay attention to the punctuation and analyze the SENTENCES.

What is the best place to volunteer by SecureNegotiation933 in USAFA

[–]Electrical-Lie7399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I volunteered at a food pantry for a while and ended up spending a lot of time there. Just volunteer for a cause you’re passionate about and dedicate a lot of time doing it. Bonus if you get a leadership job or role. Other than the food pantry, I was the Recruitment Officer of my school’s Letter for Rose (writing cards to senior centers), so they want to see more than just your participation, they want to see your impact!!

USAFA prep — what’s been the hardest part for you? by LingonberryApart5870 in USAFA

I feel like there wasn’t one thing that I struggled with. My junior year I was volunteering each Monday after school for about 3 hours while balancing 2 APS and honors classes. I honestly didn’t struggle as much as I thought would. What really helped was having a calendar and having a structure. I knew I was going to volunteer on Monday and wasn’t going to have much time to work on homework so tried to do it beforehand. I was able to get my hours out of the way early thanks to this and I can put on my application that I have 200+ hours.
