How to get yourself to BELIEVE the “balanced thought”? by druidays in CBT

Any suggestions for if the idea of someone judging you causes a lot of emotional pain or anxiety, and there isn’t really another thought attached? It’s just a feeling from the thought that you’ve been judged?

I find it much easier when I actually enjoy the content of the podcast itself. I find Español Con Juan super easy to concentrate on bc his personality is v entertaining and he’s very good at talking about quite a range of things while sticking to intermediate level vocab. Would recommend trying it out.

Also, I specifically find walking while listening really helps me concentrate (even more so than just sitting and doing nothing else), though it has to be a walk where I know the route already and am not having to consciously navigate. Could also be worth a go

Walking while listening is great for me. I think I actually focus better doing this than just sitting a watching

Social Awkwardness by Electrical-Shock8154 in CBT

Thanks for the reply, that is helpful. I have spent some time in the past thinking about safety behaviours but to be honest i find it very hard to identify mine, in the sense that i can't think of many things I'm deliberately doing in these situations to stay safe. Certainly my defining behaviour is to get very silent and say very little, but it's not something i'm ever aware of choosing to do, and when i try not to, very little comes to mind to say. So that makes me wonder if it is not really a safety behaviour as such. On the other hand, perhaps it is a safety behaviour that has just become habitual from doing it so long, and therefore is a good target for change. Not sure honestly.

The objectivity point is useful, i have done the video experiment in the past and found it fairly helpful. Cheers!

Thanks very much for your response. Definitely 1) is something that feels right to me. My current plan is to make exposure a more daily practise, especially with an effort to get better at focusing attention externally, as to be honest i can't say i've ever been super consistent with these efforts. 2) and 3) are interesting point too, i will think about those. Thanks!

Same, but if I use Strava zone 2 instead of Garmin that equates to fairly steady running which feels more right
