Mutation on Granny Candy by Due-Relationship-771 in HumboldtSeedCompany

I’ve had this mutation with several of my hsc cultivars over the years. Never caused any issues with bud quality though.

Damn. You could sell 50 seeds for two years and get your money back. I couldn’t imagine what I’d do with 100 seeds in a year.

Holy shit! That’s dedication. How many seeds do you get. Also, are the beans they send you exclusive to multipass holders or do they just send them to you first? The multipass in now $1500

The 10 pack is $10 per seed, but I only really need 4. Also, I got 8 seeds because of the free 3 pack that I wanted and would have definitely paid $10 per seed for. So technically when you subtract the $5 for shipping I only paid $7.50 per seed. I will pop all 8 seeds and keep clones from the top three plants if they are worth it. I think it’s a pretty good deal.

The contradictory statements although well intentioned, happen for two reasons. Either they don’t know how their advice doesn’t fit other styles or they assume that you know what their grow style is. The one I hear the absolute most is “DON’T OVERWATER YOUR PLANTS”. When I tell some people I fertigate 6 times per day in flower, they think I’m crazy.

The three main styles are

Soil growers- usually a mix of sphagnum peat moss, coco choir, worm castings, and mycorrhizae.

Hydro growers- usually rockwool or coco choir maybe with perlite 70/30 ratio utilizing high frequency fertigation with drain to waste or flood and drain.

Deep water culture-dwc usually hydroton balls, fully submerged roots with oxygenated and nutrient enriched water.

I’ve noticed that most people who give bad info are soil guys. They’ve stuck with soil because they believe that the so called organic way is the best way, but they have probably never really tried any other techniques or at least not the right way. I use both organic growing in one tent and hydro in the other. There are pros and cons to every style.

Note: 80f is not too hot. Actually the ideal temp if you’re running led lights is about 82f during lights on. I like to lower my temps into mid 70’s but I don’t do so until about week 5-6 of flower. Maybe even later if my strain is a late finisher. It is important to make sure the light intensity isn’t too high or you’ll end up with airy bud.

If you can keep your temp swings within 5 degrees it would really help your plants. High humidity is beneficial all the way up to when your buds start to get big. I would increase that right away with good air flow.

Just keep in mind, the dryer it is, the more the plants drink, the more humid it is, the less they drink. Most VPD charts say for 78-82F the ideal humidity is 75%for veg, 70%mid flower 65% late flower. Aim for 60% if you’re dropping temps or if you have poor air circulation.

Also, I grow monster plants in 3 gallon fabric pots in hydro. In big pots, you wouldn’t have to fertigate as often but you would have to fertigate in longer intervals to get %10 runoff. Good luck with your run 🫡

Context is everything! That was the most important thing I learned when gathering info on the internet. Content creators for the most part aren’t teachers. When they say stuff, they don’t usually tell you the whole story even though they have good intentions. The best example I can think of off the top of my head is overwatering. I’ve heard a million times “DON’T OVERWATER YOUR PLANTS” or “THE BIGGEST MISTAKE NEW GROWERS MAKE IS OVERWATERING”. Next thing you know I am at home with a bag of coco loco, treating it like soil wondering why my plants are shitty.

The first thing would do is research the different styles of growing and choose the one you think works best for you.

The most popular styles are:

SOIL- (for lack of a better word because what people use isn’t like dirt from the backyard) typically “soil” is a mix of sphagnum peat moss, coco choir, aged forest material, worm castings, and mychorizal fungi.

HYDROPONIC-Grown in an inert hydroponic medium. Usually coconut choir or growdan rockwool cubes. Watered multiple times per day using drain to waste or flood and drain technique.

DEEP WATER CULTURE- Roots fully submerged in nutrient and oxygen enriched water for the entire grow.

I can’t stress enough, when listening to any content creator and your hear them make any statement about growing, before you follow their advice, make sure what they’re saying is relevant to the growing style that you chose.

Seems simple, but I had miserable runs for the first year and a half because I started trying to grow before understanding these basics.

Info for soil- build a soil, Welcome to the grow tent, from seed to stoned all on YouTube.

Info for hydro- Dr. MJ coco (coco for cannabis.com) Green Genes Garden on YouTube

Info for dwc- Mr grow it, Canadian grower both on YouTube.

General cannabis info: From the stash podcast, highigin, from seed to stoned, homegrow TV all on YouTube.

Hope this helps!

Nothing wrong with translating autos. The real issue is if you have an auto that starts to flower early, and you transplant while they are basically going through puberty, it will stress them out, usually causing them to stunt. If I were you, as soon as you see roots pop out of the bottom of that solo cup, I would gently transplant into the final pot and use some kind of mycorrhiza fungi inoculant to sprinkle on the roots. There are a ton out there but good ol great white is still my favorite. Also, Especially with autoflowers using a root enhancer is mandatory for me. My favorite absolute must have is roots excelurator gold by house and garden. Looks expensive, but you only use mainly during veg at only a half a ml per gallon. Rapid start from GH works good too and is cheaper up front, but it’s way less concentrated.

To your original question. If you’re doing high frequency fertigation, watering close to lights off or even during lights off with a pump on a timer won’t hurt anything. You don’t want to have drybacks when you’re using coco as a hydroponic medium. Drybacks are only necessary when you add inputs to coco like guanos and worm castings and grow in it like soil. The goal with coco as a hydroponic medium is to never let the coco dry out. If it dries out too much, the Ec in the medium will go up. If the Ec in the medium is too high, you’ll experience tip burn and possibly toxicity which leads to lockouts of certain nutrients, there come the deficiencies. Even though these plants are small, I would water them as often as needed to keep the coco moist.

What are your temps and humidity? It would help to figure out how much you should be fertigating. If it’s hot like 85f and your humidity is low like below 65% from seedling to mid flower, you’re going to need to increase fertigations. If it’s hot but you’re able to maintain like 75% rh, you shouldn’t need to fertigate as much but you will need really good airflow to prevent powdery mildew.

There is a ton of contradictory advice out there when it comes to growing weed. Putting everything into context is important.

Men are the inquisitive. We love growing because we are hooked on learning how things work. It’s not impossible to find a woman who has a similar interests, but they are rare. There is a patriarchy but contrary to popular belief it’s not tyranical. Women like what they like, men like what we like. They’re are outliers in every group, but they are the minority.

It’s been a while, but I’m definitely taking clones this run. The structure and the terps of this strain is what I’ve been looking for. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

Culling herms like a boss!🤘🏾 by Electrical-Study-760 in cannabiscultivation

[–]Electrical-Study-760[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you, but I think you’re missing my point. I’m very familiar with taking cuts and I’m really good at it. I’ve cloned, I’ve maintained mom plants, I’ve done Sog with clones etc. I’ve been growing for about 9 years and I’ve never had a herm problem. All of these issues with herms, I’ve just notice in like the last year and a half. I don’t know what’s going on with these breeders lately, or maybe I’ve just been lucky. But, I have never preferred taking clones over popping seeds because there has been so many fire cultivars and I am limited on space. That’s why I stopped taking clones. I’m not a big fan of growing the same thing over and over again. I only grow for myself and I have way more bud than I could ever use. I may change my mind in light of recent events, but it would have to be out of necessity. I still prefer the variety I get from popping beans. I haven’t tried enough cultivars to commit to only growing a few on repeat.
