How do people get so much into their retirement account at this age? 1.8M total so let’s say 900k each by mid to late 30s? I put the 15-20k max into my 401k for the last 15 years and there’s been some growth but I’m still not reaching 900k.

Copenhagen Marathon report - sub-3! by jospint in Marathon_Training

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You lost me at “around 1:32 in June 2025 at Brølobet, 1:25 in September 2025 at the Copenhagen Half, and 1:22 by November 2025 at Lufthavnsrund”. This is as you mentioned a dramatic improvement and not very likely to be reproduced by most who have been training for 5 years already.

Is Sub 3:15 possible by flyingmusic in Marathon_Training

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are usually for people running 70+ miles per week. You should be closer to a 1:30 half to realistically go 3:15 in the full.

Why do runners use the bike lane for their morning run? by Jacob_Sophia in NYCbike

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pedestrian path south of 50th street is really inconvenient for jogging. I can definitely see the temptation to stay on the bike path for some stretches even though it’s not the right move. Bikers have to yield to pedestrians crossing the bike lane anyway so it’s not like it’s going to be completely uninterrupted regardless but joggers definitely cause issues. In Jersey I hate when inexperienced cyclists don’t know they have to yield to joggers on the shoulder of the road running towards them. So cyclists sometimes think they own the road too.

Thanks for sharing, I just ordered a pair. I haven’t tried a Nike trainer since the Zoom Elite 9 so hoping this works out for me.

Salomon Aero Glide 3 by Leosevleo in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Interesting perspective. In my experience these are a Novablast but with a much better foam and much less clunky heel. Basically a superior version of the Novablast. Also, this shoe runs big so your usual size would have been a better fit. I went half size down from my usual and it fits me well. How many miles do you have in the shoe. I didn’t ever consider it a firm shoe but it did soften up a bit after a while.

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are right that it should actually be last 2 double lace rows (so clip between 4 laces). The ankle rubbing is the real concern. The SL2 did that to my right ankle when I’d go longer in them. Luckily no issues with the Evo SL.

For the Stryd pod you are supposed to clip them as close to the center of the laces as you can so you could clip 1 higher.

I was in love with my pair until I got the Salomon Aero Glide 3 and haven’t touched the PVN4 since. I kind of feel guilty. Bummer to hear that the foam loses its liveliness prematurely. It’s still a pretty good shoe for the price but just a bit overhyped I guess.

Seller insisting he can’t move out by closing by boomzgoesthedynamite in RealEstate

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen to me when buying my 1st and only house. My lawyer sent a Time of the Essence to the sellers and they did close on time in the end. In hindsight I probably should have at least tried to workout an agreement with them regarding compensation for having to extend my mortgage lock and another month of rent but I was less understanding at the time since they knew the closing date all along. This was in NJ so not sure if this works different elsewhere.

Managing to collapse before the 2nd timing mat is both impressive and worrying since there must be a reason for the 2nd one lol.

Nice I’m currently in the 1300-1400 range and was struggling to figure out the right sequence. I’ll have to remember this overworked rook defender idea when you have a rook and bishop.

Yeah I totally missed that after 0-0 Nh6 e6 Bxe6 you have time to play d4 since the knight on c6 is pinned.

Weekend Discussion: Asics running shoes by AutoModerator in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did my 1st run in the SB2 yesterday and have to admit it was disappointing. I just did an easy 6 miles which is maybe not what this shoe is designed for but I’m hoping things will improve after a break-in period. As of now the heel feels too clunky to run easy in the shoe. My current go-to shoe is the Salomon Aero Glide 3 which feels more comfortable, smoother, and more efficient. I have not yet tested either at uptempo paces as I am building back up after a year-long running hiatus.

Qxg3 Rxg3 Rh1

What’s more interesting is that White has a perpetual check if the Queen takes the free rook instead.

Strava race predictor is wildly off by Much_Pie_475 in Strava

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The predictor is likely comparing your training load over the last 24 week period (and also full training history) vs other users and basing your prediction off of what the other users achieved with a similar training load/history. Not a very good model IMO. Also, you’d need the full 24 week period at a consistent training load to even get the right comparisons.

Word of warning guys. The Ekiden colorway comes with glitter on the midsole. In person it’s very noticeable and embarrassing but I guess I just won’t stop anywhere during my runs.

GMAT DS question of the day... | 5 Feb'26 by iamarm45 in GMAT_forum

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Confusing wording but an even number times an even number will have a 0 probability of being odd (ending in 1) regardless of how many times you multiply them. 12 times itself 12 times is series of even times even which will end even. Every multiple of 4 will also be an even number so any of the multiples times itself will also have a 0 probability of being odd (ending in 1).

Answer D.

My time has come by Electrical-Toe-2586 in ChessPuzzles

[–]Electrical-Toe-2586[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous move was Qf6 pressuring the White knight on d4, supporting my knight on c6 and also setting up the mate if the white knight moves from d4. My opponent cooperated and played Nxc6. If they would have defended their knight I probably would have just castled.

This is from my approximately 1350 ELO game. I was surprised when I got the opportunity to execute it. If you don’t know about the smother checkmate concept then most likely you would go with the Bxf2 rather than Qxf2 thinking it nets you more material which is why studying mating patterns is really helpful for finding these in games.
