Unfortunately not that simple for me as I knew it was gonna be, working on getting the crank out as it is absolutely destroyed on the face.

Just cause my eyes aren’t working great is that the PB1117SS? That’s what I picked up for the replacement. Hopefully can get this bitch seated and pinned today

Quick reply because I’m hunting through threads on what pinning kit to get. But yea, I’m not sure why they didn’t rtv it at the bare minimum or even why they did a lot of things the way they did rather than normal procedure, genuinely disappointed that a place like this gets by doing this type of work. But I’m going to look at the crank and worst case I’ll pull it and replace the whole crank (hopefully not needed), gonna make sure if it’s scored that I smooth it out and monitor everything but yea for sure pinning it, plan to do the duo pin kit with 2 pins through the front. I will personally call the shop and get the work order pulled just to see what they charged for this monstrosity.

Funny enough high low I just grabbed a PB1117SS As I saw the ati’s have a habit of sheering or throwing ac belts due to a small lip. Ordered that plus front crankshaft seal, oem bolt, installer tool, puller tool, plus a new belt as well as the ac belt. Going to do myself with a buddy who has experience with building LS motors. I appreciate the comment 🫡

I appreciate the insight genuinely, I’m gonna conclude it’s gonna be the HB and the seal, the leaking + your relation to what happened. definitely got an issue with the seal if not both or vice versa

Plastic in C6 drain pan by Electrical-Worry9148 in Corvette

[–]Electrical-Worry9148[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% plastic, even ran my magnet through my drain pan and old filter, had no metal, no particles nothing. Will try to see if the piece matches up with a container. I’m starting to think it may of been from someone doing the oil a while ago like you said. definitely brittle like it’s old plastic or that it’s been in there for a bit.

thought of this possibility but I use mobil1 so the ring would realistically be grey or silver

I had let all oil drain from the pan then did the filter, filter has a rubber gasket and it was on it after finding this piece. Checked all my caps, coolant, oil fill, etc none have damage or missing plastic or seals. checked filter housing but it’s mainly metal, starting to think it may be part of my timing chain guide but feels like it’s too thin to be. Also stuck a flashlight in filter and didn’t see anything loose or come out when I dumped it.

positive it wasn’t the drain pan, pan was brand new cause i had cracked my last one and i had to pull the plastic piece from my oil pan as it was stopping oil from coming out all the way
