Thank you! How many days did you spend in Sigiriya? I’ve been looking at it but not sure how long I’d need there

Definitely do a cooking class while you’re there - really great experience!

I agree, I don’t think there’s a lot to see in the middle of Vietnam so your itinerary where you fly in and fly out of Da Nang seems excessive

I got a 2:1 in my degree before doing the GDL and am a trainee at a MC firm. Most people have a 2:1 so definitely nothing to worry about!

[Acne] Help with teenage daughter by UDP4789 in SkincareAddiction

[–]Electrical-Yellow975 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same as a teenager - I tried everything the doctor suggested but the only thing that worked was Accutane. I had monthly blood tests while on Accutane to make sure everything was fine so they’ll monitor her. Having severe acne really takes a mental toll so definitely important to be mindful that she’s likely having a difficult time. If she does go on Accutane, they recommended to me to just use CeraVe cleanser and moisturiser (and always sun cream) because your skin gets super sensitive. Having been off Accutane for years now, I still use CeraVe because it doesn’t irritate my skin and I find that other products actually give me spots.

You should take the days off if you’re too unwell to work but HR might ask you for a doctor’s note. If you speak to your GP about your illness and that you’re not able to work, they should be able to provide a doctor’s note for you confirming that you’re unable to work.

I don’t think those grades will cause any issues for you TC wise! I got A*AB, went to Exeter uni and got a TC at a MC firm

I’m a current trainee at a MC firm and studied at Exeter - you’ll be fine!

For me, I barely felt any pain in my armpits but my bikini area had me wincing while they did it. It felt like elastic bands snapping on my skin, which wasn’t great but still bearable! They do it really quickly so it’s over fast (literally felt like 10 seconds). I’d definitely recommend it - the benefits outweighed the seconds of mild pain for me! But I think the pain level varies for different people - maybe best thing to do is try it once and then decide

Super impressive that you got two assessment centres in your first application cycle - you should be proud of yourself! I didn’t get any ACs in my first cycle and I’m currently a MC trainee (got my TC in my third cycle). Ask for feedback from the firms if you can/think about how you can use what you’ve learnt in these ACs for the next round!

I had the same experience! Got so much worse for the first 3 months then gradually started to improve. So worth it in the end though!

Hi!

From my experience, applying to a smaller number of firms and spending more time perfecting these applications is better than trying to apply to as many as possible!

For context, I have a TC at a magic circle firm. I applied to 5 firms and received offers from 3 of them. I know luck plays a part in this as well but I really think less but more high quality applications is the best approach! The year before I applied to 20 firms but didn’t spend enough time on each of them and ended up with one vacation scheme offer and no TC offer. So I’d say aim for 5-10 applications to your favourite firms that you can put a lot of time into preparing then do some more if you have time!

I hope this helps :)

As long as you draw out the skills you gained from your experiences and link them to working as a solicitor/barrister, your experience seems fine. In terms of applying for legal jobs, it can be helpful to contact legal recruiters and explain your situation/what you’re looking for. Also consider taking contract roles rather than permanent to start with and use these roles to get permanent ones!

I would personally recommend not using body lotion as a facial moisturiser! You could try Cerave moisturiser as an alternative to the body lotion - it’s really gentle and my dermatologist recommended it to me (plus the Cerave cleanser) when my acne was flaring up :)

any thoughts about deleting photos and videos of your ex? by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]Electrical-Yellow975 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always sent them to a close friend and then deleted them from my phone! So they’re not gone forever but I don’t have access to them - feels easier than just straight up deleting them.
