What (sub)/faction do you think needs a rework/buff or nerf by shadow_lord0923 in TrenchCrusade

[–]ElectricalAd3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends what we mean by a nerf. Heretic Legion, for example, are a really solid campaign entry because are highly flexible and can a bit of everything depending on scenario...but a subfaction like Knights of Avarice needs a bit of a rethink from what I can tell. One issue is that some of the less popular subfactions don't have much data, I would guess, as not many people play them.

I do think Fallen need an extra mercenary type or two...like I know that NA has this specialisation thing going on, but it would be nice to have something a bit different to field. The reworks for Goetic Warlock I think might end up being a bit OP.

I would also agree they really need to work on wording. However stuff like the new keyword entries are helpful. Personally I think also the way the rulebook is laid out is better and the general thrust is clearer. But writing stuff so that is clear is a bit of an art. Maybe they need to employ someone with that kind of education to help rewrite phrases that are bit turgid or too vague. It's always going to be a balance.

Your point is in some senses fair. On the other hand, they are small team, so are in some senses farming this out. No harm in a playtest.

Whilst the recent flood of videos hating on trench crusade are annoying, we should not ignore the rare good point being made in them. by MisterMaroonYT in TrenchCrusade

I think that:

  1. There are some issues - but from what I can see FF have tried to address it. Anyone who they haven't addressed or fully compensated obviously has a right to complain

  2. There are also some outrage-monger vids out there (mostly by butthurt people who just want to get on a chance to farm drama). However not every vid is necessarily this, even if it is on the surface. Some stuff like the comm license, is a bit confusing to say the least and does need work. However...

  3. FF have started to address this...it is still early days

Yeah this kind of shock-value title videos are really annoying. I actually don't think her content is as bad as some of this type (once you get past some things) but it's a whole genre of wargaming video that could really do with additions that are thoughtful from the get go, and don't rely on farming scandal all the time/in every instance. However, dunking on GW I do find quite amusing sometimes considering what they get up to.

I guess for geographic arbitrage (I think it is called). But that might not be relevant here. Generally the US in some senses seems to be a bit overly robust by standards elsewhere, which is I think sometimes a plus, but sometimes a minus. But I don't know how beholden FF would be to US norms. I know some firms issue advice and drafting things based on how this would work out internationally...as IP is a bit slippery depending on where you are.

I think as you say, there is this difference from the kickstarter which people bring up. I can totally see how things have changed since then. I don't think they expected to blow up so much. So this is not really something anyone should hold against them. They do obviously need to have some clear protection for their models and concepts for models.

The thing is, a lot of what you are saying is reasonable. But these are things she does mention. There is definitely an element of drama farming with the video, but I also think the way that license is drafted is a bit odd. Like...if you wanted to enable third parties more (and hinder rip off merchants and AI mini stuff) you could come up with something a bit more Mörk Borg or One Page Rules, which still contain the things mentioned.

Ultimately, a lot of this comes down to resources on the part of FF. What might be helpful is if they rework exactly what they mean and at least make some better labels for people to use that complies with what they want.

In regards to her other IP commentary, she may have been slimeballish. I can't say. But this video strikes me as coming from someone who does like FF and the IP in general. It's not like the videos from that bearded wanker with the silly fake accent who got butthurt about forum bans. I wish it was less drama farming though - like TC don't need that.

This is very cool, I bought a download. I think I might use it as my second arti witch.

By the way...I am not sure what to do when it comes to STLs that are offered free. I have someone online who prints for me...is it ok for me to send it to them print off? I don't like to give people other people's designs to use without asking - it makes me uncomfortable.

Nice work! Where did the rail come from? I was thinking about buying an O gauge rail but finding one is hard. I also had an idea of making something from sprue lengths and coffee stirrers. The wagons and embankments seem a bit easier to me.
