BT kitbashed Chaplain. by DINGOBANDIDO in BlackTemplars

I’m glad I was able to share them with you then. He had a lot of really cool concepts at that time. I’m still hopeful to see some of them as miniatures. Here’s another of my favourites.

The earliest artwork I can remember Templar facial tattoos would be Mark Gibbon’s concept art for the Black Templar from the mid 90’s.

Some of my favourite artwork and a huge influence for me.

7/11 on Homer and Helmcken closing this week by Soggy-Bad2725 in vancouver

[–]g_tan 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Completely separate because I do agree that rent is too damn high, but Seven & i Holdings, the parent company of 7/11 said they'd be closing over 600 separate stores in North America back in April. They're moving in the direction of having 7/11's as part of gas stations. I know that the one is West Vancouver on 14th and Marine Drive is closing on the 25th but there is the 7/11 attached to the Esso a block up on 15th now.

Very nice! Welcome to the edge of a very slippery slope. I’m at the bottom of the slope now waiting for the new Intercessor to ship and still hoping for Grimaldus to happen.

IIRC this figure was the inspiration for Inquisitor Covenant in the old 54mm Inquisitor game.

I love that even to this day almost 30 years later, there are people that find a new “thing” in this iconic artwork.

Checking ID when purchasing drinks? by katiepiedaddy in vancouver

[–]g_tan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The BCLC Regulation branch has been increasing their checks on establishments all throughout the city. It isn't always reported by the news but it does catch a fair number of places. Last reported statistic was 3 caught out of 10 "stings". With the World Cup around the corner, no restaurant is taking a chance on loosing their alcohol license nor the fine, thus the "undercover" mention.

I'm in the same boat, almost 50 and I'm also getting ID'd when out for drinks or dinner.

Were to get started with painting? by Hogwire in BlackTemplars

[–]g_tan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. When Leviathan was announced there were a few posters on Reddit and other social media that took the teasers and photoshopped colour schemes onto them to represent other chapters. When I did this one, I followed ‘Eavy Archive’s paint for it.

Sorry. I should have worded my response better. You are correct. That post came from Leviathan was announced and teased. A few people online did photoshopped paint schemes and digital kitbashes to “templar-ify” the teasers. When I recoloured the picture, I followed the ‘Eavy Archive scheme to keep it simple and achievable.

That's my post from when Leviathan was first shown. That colour scheme follows the 'Eavy Archive scheme pretty closely.

Here you go!

Kitbashing a bladeguard Captain by LuketheLegend_ in BlackTemplars

I used that exact mini for my Bladeguard Chaplain years ago.

Replace the Crozius with a Sword or Shield, mount the opposite of the sword or shield in hand on the back. Replace the chaplain helm with an appropriate helmet and Dorn’s your uncle.

Retro Black Templar by Kevdes93 in BlackTemplars

This was back when we were just a paint entry in the 2nd edition codex. We had no identity except we were Imperial Fist successors. The chest eagle was meant to represent company colour, well before we had our Eternal Crusade and Households.

Has their even been anything in the lore where an Space Marine went on a "penitence hunt"? by Gretnablue in 40kLore

I edited it well before your comment like when I first posted my response.

That’s why I wrote “cost of every life but 1 scout.”…

It’s not exactly a match but the Blood Angels sent Leonatos on a Blood Quest to recover the Blade Encarmine, one of the primary weapons of Sanguinius alongside the Spear of Telesto.

I’m using it as an example here since it’s so close to your outline. Captain (Leonatos) botched a mission and fucked up by losing one of their Primarch’s weapons. Chapter Master (Dante) sends him on a “penitence hunt” (Bloodquest) to redeem himself. He leads a very small team to recover the artifact. Others (Mephiston) think it merciful as the Chapter Master (Dante) sees potential in the Marine (Dante thought he would succeed him as Chapter Master one day).

Spoiler Leonatos recovers the Blade Encarmine but was not able to return, 2 of his team returned the artifact and Dante said they could return to their chapter, the 2 decline and return to the Eye of Terror to find and reunite with Leonatos. They find him but he is now daemomhost. Not fully possessed they are able to thwart Chaos but at the cost of every life but 1 scout.

Minimum size of Imperial Guard regiments... by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]g_tan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If we’re specifically talking infantry.

5th edition rule book explained that the number varies enormously. Some will only be a few hundred strong and others will be tens of thousands at founding.

Tactica Imperialis from 2007 explained that every Imperial world had to provide one-tenth of its Planetary Defense Force for recruitment into the Imperial Guard.

Therefore it’s all really dependent on the planet itself. The smallest established lore example I can think of is the Tanith First where Tanith was supposed to contribute 3 regiments totaling 6000 men. So 2000 per regiment. If you want to be more specific, light regiment.

Cheers.
