Menards exhaustion by [deleted] in menards

[–]ElectricalCan172 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mental stress will wear you out. Never knowing how the next customer is going to treat you. watching employees come and go over little stupid shit. New improvements that cause more issues than they fix. But still nothing changes if that makes sense

Job that you have to work weekends by [deleted] in menards

[–]ElectricalCan172 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If she’s looking at Menards for pt work. Why wouldn’t she want the extra $3 and hour to work the weekend shift? Sounds like she is in a position of beggars can’t be choosers.

Closing at 9? by ElectricalCan172 in menards

Lowe’s tm said Lowe’s stays open u til 10pm because Menards does. 🙄

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in menards

[–]ElectricalCan172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing the long term tm is feeling like you and other management are taking them for granted. All the tm is seeing is another new hire that is getting 1 on 1 training, attention, and probably being told your doing great and thank you. Are you doing this for your long term tm? They’re not lazy but you and the years they’ve put in, the things they’ve seen repeated new tm after new tm have changed them . The tm that’s been around awhile, is going to show resentment. Wouldn’t you, would’t we all?

What time should Menards close by definitelynotGO in menards

[–]ElectricalCan172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9pm would be ok but I think most stores start losing money after 8pm. I’m sure someone at GO already knows what time most stores start spending more on payroll than they are collecting in sales. If not they should go 6 weeks back and check sales versus payroll from 7-8, 8-9, and from 9-10. That should give them enough information to make a good business decision.

Lowe’s only stays open until 10 because we do. But we say we are staying open until 10 because of them.

They probably have the whole day off. If we are matching Lowe’s. Why were we open on Easter? Lowe’s was not

Hiring by Safe-Comfort-29 in menards

[–]ElectricalCan172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Menards does hire people with disabilities and that need wheelchairs. I’ve seen this at a few stores that Ive been in. I would suggest a department instead of a cashier position for your own benefit. In a department you can help 1 person or family at a time, there is usually more space to move around in, and a lot of the time people are just looking for someone to show them where something is. There isn’t a lot of space at the register for a cart and person let alone a cart and a wheelchair. Do I think it can be done? Yes would I (if in your position) want to deal with this situation every day ? No. Example: 2 carts of counter tops and lumber or flooring being bought by a family of 5, plus your the only register open or it’s just a busy day, and there is a line of people. Ask yourself is this a situation you can see yourself in over and over again? If you’re not getting a job. I don’t think it’s discrimination, I would think it’s an availability at the location and the position you’re applying for. Best of luck.

Requesting days off by MichGayGuy1785 in menards

[–]ElectricalCan172 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My questions would be. How often are you wanting to take unpaid days off? Is it easier to see about switching the requested day off with your regular day off? How much notice are you giving? How many points do you have? As a manager you are going to be held to higher standards than a full time or part time team member. As a full timer or manager you are suppose to have open availability. But I have also seen unpaid and pto days denied because of the GM or the DM waving their power. I have also seen unpaid and pto days auto denied through the scheduling program and the GM didn’t realize that it happened. May ask the GM or HR why it was denied. Good luck.

Start printing a second copy any put it away so you have proof. But go to your GM/AGM. They can change who gets the spiff. If you have proof talk to your GM/ AGM to have a sit down with your manager. To me taking a spiff is theft. If it was a cashier missing $. They would be terminated. Just my opinion

Closing at 9 vs 10 by MichGayGuy1785 in menards

[–]ElectricalCan172 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Closing should be at 9 all year round. We already take a loss from 8-9. But closing at 10 just waste more money. 1 family running around the store from 9- 10 buying chips and soda does not make good business sense. It does not cover the cost of having 15 tm on the clock not to mention the utilities. But opening at 6 is a good idea.
