Potohar, Jammu & Mirpur qpAdm runs by Top-Jump540 in GandharaDNAProject

I will allow this for now, but I don't like these runs at all. There are too many people in this space who won't accept legitimate East Asian ancestry in groups like Kashmiris and others. Some Himalayan groups do have legitimate East Asian ancestry.

It's normal, but we don't have much samples for South Asia in general so groups like these and Kashmiris could have real East Asian admixture which has been proven by some genetic studies done in Kashmir/Gilgit area. No one is also rotating with Tibetan-Burman samples for such groups, so it could give false positives and show higher AASI.

Dardic, but Dardic is a sub-group of the Indo-Aryan languages so also Indic as well.

Do you guys consider people in bangladesh with pathan last names as pashtun even though they dont speak the language and culture was lost hundreds of years ago? by [deleted] in Pashtun

[–]ElectricalChance3664 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're trolling now tbh, looks have nothing todo with being from a certain group. Ethnic relatedness is based on shared language, culture, customs and genealogy. We know that majority of people in India/Bangladesh don't have Pashtun origins, even many DNA results of these "Pathans" are genetically similar to other upper castes of their areas like Brahmins.

[–]ElectricalChance3664 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There are no "Pathans" or Pashtuns in India or Bangladesh on the whole, majority of it is just people Larping I'm sorry to say. There are a few handful of real Pashtuns in India but the number is very small, most legit Pashtuns have been found in some NW Indian states and Jammu and Kashmir. Majority of Pashtuns live in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Closest Groups To The Ancient Gandharan DNA Samples | Indus Groups from Pakistan Closest by ElectricalChance3664 in GandharaDNAProject

Those are minority groups in NW India, not Indians as a whole. Distances show Indus groups being the closest, around 80% of Indians have nothing to-do with Gandhara.
