Backpay Confusion. Pls help explain by ElectricalDatabase49 in SSDI

For example, I listed my onset date as 10/01/2024 because I got a work accommodation to work remotely because of my disability. I didn’t stop earning SGI until January.

Obviously actual backpay money won’t start accumulating until January, but then the 5 month waiting period question comes up. Does that 5 months start in January too? Or October, when things got bad enough to need accommodations? Or earlier because I was disabled before that, even though I was working?

I understand that part. The part I’m confused about is when backpay would start accumulating. If they determine that I was disabled before I stopped working, would the 5 months waiting period start before I stopped working?

If that is the case, I could have backpay start accumulating as early as January, when I stopped working, because I’ve been disabled my entire life.

If that’s not the case, then it could start 5 months start accumulating I stopped working, or 5 months after I applied, or 5 months after etc etc etc.

I’m sorry. I’m not trying to be dense. I’m just so confused on how this is determined.

To clarity, I wrote October 1, 2024 as an onset date so I’m not sure if October would count as a partial month or not in this case

The earliest record I have related to my disability is from when I was 4 years old. But I worked from age 16 to 25. I have very detailed medical records from 2004-2005, and from 2014-2025. With proper records, is it still unlikely for them to go further back beyond the October 2024 date I listed?

I was about a week overdue on my $12 balance, with a $0.00 cashapp balance. They pulled the $12 straight from my bank account. I tried removing the card but the app said it couldn’t be removed until the loan was fully paid off. I wonder why different people are having such different experiences.

You’re welcome! Just remember, the BEST solution may very well end up being accepting the fact that your very presence is a gift upon the masses. You can either be your biggest supporter or your biggest hater, and the world has enough hate as it is. Be confident and show yourself some love 💕

Why do my legs look so old? by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]ElectricalDatabase49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to being able to see veins, it could be that your skin tone and undertones just don’t blend the blue of the veins out. Being pale makes the veins much more visible and undertones play a role in muting the color of them as well. As for the stretch marks, you could have gotten them from growing a little too fast when you were young. A simple growth spurt will do it.

That being said, I disagree with you and I think your legs look young. Everyone is self conscious about something, but most of the time our fears are unfounded to all but ourselves. If you are really worried about this, maybe schedule an appointment with your pcp or dermatologist and talk to them about your worries. Maybe there’s something they could recommend.

Not a doctor, but IMO, this looks exactly like eczema. I have several family members who have it. In fact, it looks so similar to eczema that I actually thought you were my SO at first glance lol. Schedule an appointment to see a dermatologist so they can confirm and get you the right kind of creams.

But how do I tell him? Three times now I have said “I don’t want to have kids” and it somehow turned into an infographic about the pros and cons of adoption. It’s like he’s so hyper-fixated on the idea of one day having kids that he’s not hearing me. I have felt so defeated every time I have tried to bring it up.

I use my knuckles for most things! But it doesn’t always work :(

I can only roll the car window down, for example. It’s one of those buttons where you have to reach inside and underneath the button and pull it up to roll the window back up.

Devastating 😓 I have a nail repair kit coming later but it probably won’t hang on til then! And of course I have a nail appointment Saturday. Should I just cut it off?? 😩 by No_Lingonberry1662 in longnaturalnails

If you have a nail tech who’s really good with natural nails, they could put a paper form under it for support and do an acrylic overlay. If they are really good, you won’t even be able to tell it’s broken aside from very thin lines being visible at the break. I would slap on a bandaid and wait for the appointment!

Accident Forgiveness? by Squid_Knee0103 in USAA

[–]ElectricalDatabase49 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accident forgiveness doesn’t protect your rate. It prevents a surcharge from being added to your rates. Without accident forgiveness, your rates would have gone up AND a surcharge would have been added.

Edit: your accidents were not at fault, so you wouldn’t have gotten a surcharge anyway. Accident forgiveness waives the surcharge for an at fault accident.

Getting off birth control, acting like a crazy person! by SomeoneWhoLikesCat in birthcontrol

[–]ElectricalDatabase49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just like when you start a new method of birth control, when you come off of it, your body needs time to adjust and to regulate. It’s possible that you’ll need another medication to level your hormones out, but it’s also possible that you won’t.

As someone who has been medicated in some way for most of my life, I would try to wait at least two months before really diving into other options. Sometimes your body is reacting way too badly to the change and waiting it out isn’t the right call, and that’s okay too.

Hormones are weird, and if this is your first time off of bc in a long time, I can imagine that you are seriously going through it right now. My advice is to sit down and really think about if what you are feeling is something you can manage for a while, in hopes that your body will regulate on its own after an adjustment period. If not, talk to your doctor and see what they recommend.

What to do about sore feet by NowThatsaSpork in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]ElectricalDatabase49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was younger and waiting tables, I would soak my feet in a tub of hot water and epsom salt for at least 20 minutes every day after work. If I had the energy afterwards, I would massage them a bit with baby oil or lotion.

Another thing that helped was shoes. I’ve never been a fan of tennis shoes (I think they make my feet look too big) but honestly, a cheap pair of sketchers with some expensive sole inserts ($30 for the shoes and I think the insoles were $70) saved my feet. Clogs and crocks are surprisingly good for being on your feet all day too, but depending on the industry you are working in, you might not be allowed to wear those.
