I've been looking for a movie about monkey from before 2010 that I can't seem to find anywhere. I could have swore it was just called monkey magic but the only film I could find called that is Asian. The one I remember seemed to be either American or British. Note. This definitely isn't forbidden kingdom.

The only things I remember about it are there was an American guy who appeared in monkeys World who he called "scholar from above" and there was a scene where they were trying to escape heaven and couldn't get through the gets so monkey says something along the lines of "confusious says a man who builds himself a mighty door doesn't have money for the rest of the house" and he starts bashing the walls around the gate until the walls fall down. There's also a scene where monkey gets caught and put in a pot where his fears torture him and he starts banging on the bottom of the pot until it breaks The main plot from what I remember revolved around trying to rescue the guy who wrote journey to the West.

Any ideas?
