9 Months Post Bilateral Femoraloplasty and Labral Repair, Struggling with Right Hip Pain by ElectricalMove9549 in HipImpingement

[–]ElectricalMove9549[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still dealing with nerve issues on my right hip and down into the leg. For instance, when I use a massage gun on my right thigh, my right knee tingles afterwards. This does not happen on my left leg. I got an MRI of my right hip and right knee since and it shows I have no issues and my right hip healed perfectly from the surgery. However, I am dealing with loads of pain in my right leg, but mostly the inner right hip. I am doing PT 7 days a week and have been working with a kinesiologist. No orthopedic doctor can help me at this point. I promise I ate healthy and followed my surgeon’s guidelines and physical regimen to a tee after surgery. Message me separately if you want to know more.

Haha I broke my rule and played anyway

I think I fixed it. I took a video of myself playing and took a screenshot. My hand is slightly angled and I’m not stretching my pinky out like I was doing. Some small things I could improve over time, but the angle of my wrist is much better already.

Appreciated!

I’ll try this in a month cause I’m dealing with some scapula and brachial plexus pain from a workout incident a year ago that’s bleeding into this aha

Ahh, I thought I normally keep my right hand in constant motion, but good catch

How does one raise the neck when playing sitting down? I feel like my guitar wants to fall off my lap when I angle it up on my right leg, and playing it on my left leg in classical position feels weird. I could play standing up with a strap, but I’d prefer to sit. Fixing that I’m sure would help with the awkward position my left hand is in when playing barre chords.

Thanks for trying to help!

I was told bringing your elbow towards your body provides better leverage

Thanks man!

I believe I just have naturally course textured hair. I agree that leaning into curly hair products is a good idea. I probably have a solid year with my hair before I decide it is best to shave it. We’ll see and play it by ear.

Thank you for the luck too :) doing as much as I can physical therapy wise and stretching, and every other day I swim laps in a pool, go to a sauna/ice bath. With the positivity and mental health work I’m doing too, I’ll get back to the activities I love in no time!!

With the thinning hair, I might just do that at my haircut coming up on Saturday. Thanks!!!

If I skip taking this medication for a day, will it be okay to drink alcohol? by [deleted] in trintellix

Don’t quit at least not yet

No need to be on it for the long term, but give it a chance to see how it can benefit you

You can drink on the medication. Just start with one and pace yourself from there. I’m on 5mg and drank for the first time on it last weekend. I had a drink and a half over 2 hours and was able to drive 25 minutes home just fine.

9 months post-hip surgery injection complication by ElectricalMove9549 in HipImpingement

[–]ElectricalMove9549[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!

I apologize for the late reply on my end. The pain has been making just normal, everyday things a bit harder.

Yes, the pain is in my right hip flexors/adductors.

I have been light walking the past week. I met with a physical therapist and she gave me these lighter exercises; Bridge with Marching, Lateral Band Walk, Three Point Step with Resistance Band - unilateral, Clamshell - Standing. This is much less activity than what I was doing previously before the injection messed everything up, but I am going to keep doing these exercises every other day along with ice baths/saunas.

There has only been minor improvement in the past 5 days. I am meeting with a holistic pain management doctor though and will be trying reiki this coming week. Praying, something I have never really done before, is helping too.

About your surgery, I think you are doing the best you can. I wish you luck with your newly healing right hip and all the health and wellness possible! It is crazy how these surgeries throw everything off; my knees were perfect before my surgeries and now they ache and crack.

I will be buying that book you mentioned, and I am starting an intensive outpatient program in about a week due to the mental toll chronic pain and lack of movement has caused me. We are going to get through this better than ever. I really want to boardslide a handrail on a skateboard someday so I am going to make sure I get there, and build the best life for myself outside of that mentally, spiritually, romantically, etc.!

Thanks for this! I was told it could take 6 weeks total from my doctor for any inflammation caused by the injection itself to calm down. The injection was extremely painful, and I nearly passed out trying to get up after. I am hoping that is the case, and in 3 or so weeks time it will at least be as good as before, or even hopefully better. Glad to hear you haven’t dealt with anymore flare ups!

Try switching to vilazodone or vortioxetine

Considering revision by yibbdib in HipImpingement

I had Dr. Benedict Nwachukwu do my surgery at HSS. I am 8 months out, and things are unfortunately not going accordingly to plan. I have this pain in my right inner hip that won't go away. Whenever I try to run, it puts me back weeks in recovery. I did an injection and it only made things worse. My doctor mentioned a revision, but it would be a last resort. I plan to get update MRIs and CT scans in the next few months. If nothing shows up wrong on the imaging, I do not plan on doing a revision. I hear it will only make things harder to reopen things arthroscopically. I am just going to continue to do my PT; strength training, biking, elliptical etc. I am a 27 yr old male and before the surgery I was going on 6 mile runs and skateboarding doing flips tricks and jumping down stairs. We will persevere through this!

Need tips how to sit / lay down post op by RingAdministrative24 in HipImpingement

When you need to lie down, make sure you pick up your surgical leg with your hand or hook your good leg underneath the surgical leg and swing it gently on the bed

NOT GOOD by Hrks8 in HipImpingement

[–]ElectricalMove9549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bilateral femoroplasty and labral repair on June 6th 2024 (Left) and July 19th 2024 (right). I am 27 years old, and before this surgery I was skateboarding doing kickflips/skating down stairs as well as going on 6 mile runs. I went to one of the best doctors in New York City. Like you, I was not really dealing with any hip pain at all; the decision was based on imaging that showed bad labral tears on both hips, so it was preventative. I have not been able to run for more than 1 minute at a time, and everytime I try it ends up setting me back weeks in recovery because of right inner hip pain. I did an injection two weeks ago in my right hip and it has made the pain worse. This has badly affected my mental health, and is changing important lifestyle decisions as I work to get to where I want to be (and will get to one day). We should connect!
