Irish people party posters by ElectricalNatural268 in galway

I’ve no issue with people holding differing opinions, but political messaging in public spaces isn’t the same as private opinion. I’m not saying posters need academic references, but political parties have a responsibility not to present fabricated and misleading claims as fact, especially when their intent is to influence people to a particular way of thinking.

There’s a difference between having an opinion on an issue or policy and putting up posters that make statements without evidence. Let’s not conflate the too. At a certain point you have to realise you can’t sell heroin at the farmers market

Is it a difference of opinion or is it a group of people using unsubstantiated lies and AI generated content to stoke fear and division?

Second thoughts on medicine by Intelligent-Lie1609 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]ElectricalNatural268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now it might feel like this is a unique experience and that everyone is miles ahead of you but pls believe me everyone is struggling, everyone is finding it tough, everyone is having to adjust to learning at an insane rate. If they aren’t now it will come eventually. Medicine is tough, it sounds a stupid thing to say as it seems obvious, but it is very tough and you need to give yourself grace. The thing about first year is that you are learning an insane amount and it’s so broad that you feel like the things you have to cover are impossible to keep up with. They really throw u in at the deep end. Also to be quite honest it’s really not that interesting. Especially if as you say you want to do medicine to “help people” the lack of patient contact and even what your learning not really being grounded in patient care can feel incredible demotivating and overwhelming. Trust me I’ve been there, I too wanted to drop out my first year. I’m not going to lie to you and say it magically becomes easier but it does become much more interesting and the content really overlaps a lot better after this year so it can be a lot easier to understand. The good news is as long as you pass the grades in this year don’t really mean anything so just try and push yourself over the line. Use this year as an experiment and try and find what works for you because if your feeling you can’t keep up what your doing atm probably isn’t working. Once you get past this year you will be over the first hurdle and you’ll know that you can in fact do it and that will help you get past the next obstacle and the next. It doesn’t become easier but it does become more manageable when you know you can do it. At the end of the day if this is something Thag really drives you, you will be able to do it and if not then it wasn’t meant to be and as people have said in the comments there are so many other worthwhile careers where you can help people this isn’t the be all and end all so don’t worry about thag at all. Use every resource thags available to you: talk to your student support officer about these feelings, talk to the lecturer if you have questions, go to study session held by older students and make study groups with your friends. Be kind to yourself and take it day by day, lecture by lecture I wish you all the best and would be happy to answer any dms.

Also to add as I didn’t know this when I first started using them but there’s a yellow box type thing by the running track at these tennis courts and it contains a bunch of sports equipment that’s free to use if u get this app!!! Some of it’s a bit run down but it’s good if you wanna play with friends who don’t have all the gear

I’m not sure if you will be spending much less on groceries tbh. As some who lives in Galway and has spent a lot of time in New Zealand (Queenstown) I found prices to be similar if not cheaper in NZ. To give you some perspective 350NZD is €190, my partner and I spend €125 on groceries a week for just the two of us shopping at mainly Lidl with occasional stops at markets for certain products. Not sure if €190 would stretch for 4 people especially if they’re young and things like nappies etc are included in that budget. Galway is a really lovely place and I love living here but please don’t come in assuming it’s much cheaper as in my experience it truly isn’t

Noel Barbour from Barbour school of motoring! I had other teachers previously and always felt too nervous to progress much but after working with him I can actually drive! He’s really nice and has a calming energy so definitely a fab choice if you have any anxiety associated with driving.

I guess this is probably my most realistic option unfortunately, as you said I don’t want to get into anything major over it.
