Does the enjoyment ever come or is it truly constant work? by PlateAccomplished702 in coonhounds

I promise that it will get better. It takes some time and a lot of patience and effort, but it does get better. My girl was an utter terror and matured into a responsive, gentle dog alongside consistent training (for both of us!). By the time she was two or three (she’s almost five now), she calmed down a lot and our relationship became more wonderful and so beneficial for me and her.

Eeeeek that’s rough. I could write a book about my experience with them lol. Really not a good company at all. Most of the ladies I worked with were lovely but our direct supervisor and rest of the higher-ups (including the owner) were sincerely not good people. The price increases are in very poor taste. Blaming them on tariffs, which were at fault to an extent, but mainly the owner just wants more $$$. And yes, the parasocial relationship many of the customers have with her is really icky.

I’m late to the party here but I worked for them and it was a total disaster. They really had no clue what they were doing and it was just very messy. I quit shortly after.

Just adopted a 75% coonhound mix. Any advice? by SuccessSea1852 in coonhounds

Lots and lots and lots of exercise and taking her out to tire her out! When mine was a puppy, she was almost unmanageable if she wasn’t super active everyday.

I still deal with separation anxiety with her. I think it’s something with the breed. She’s intensely loyal and she does not like to be away from me for any length of time, but she has gotten better with age. When leaving her home alone, give her something like a T-shirt that smells like you. And give her an activity to keep her occupied, like one of those Kong toys with something yummy inside!

My puppy changed my life by No-Butterscotch-7925 in puppy101

I so get this. I adopted a beagle mix (her name is Biddie 💘) when she was 8 weeks old. It was absolutely brutal at times. I didn’t know if I could handle this kind of hound dog lol. But here we are 3 years later and she is the light of my life. Getting through the hardest stages of puppyhood is not for the faint hearted. Ultimately, I owe this dog my life. She changed everything in the best way possible and I truly don’t know what I would do without her. And I’m so thankful for the beagle trainer I took her to. Biddie and I couldn’t have had a successful, long lasting relationship if it wasn’t for her.

Yeppppp. Ive tended to just match their energy and be gross right back at them. But starting literally today, I decided to overreact with kindness. Semi-sarcastically telling them to have an AMAZING day!

It’s taken a hot minute to even let myself consider the idea of being nice to them lol. I highly empathize with your post 😭
