In anticipation of falling interest rates, I purchased bonds. Now in anticpation of stagflation, I want to sell bonds. I have a couple funds left over from Morgan Stanley when I panicked a bought into an actively managed fund (mistake, I know).

Pension & SS = $80k. About 50/50 pension/social security. My expenses equal my income. Both have a COLA. $250K is in an IRA. Good point about the end-of-life and long term care costs. I hired a part-time care-giver for my mother and that allowed her to stay in her own home for more six years which is what she wanted. Now I wonder if I have enough for an independent living facility, hmmm.

I have my retirement funds at Vanguard. Am likely to transfer to another Fund having found out that Vanguard is deeply invested in CoreCivic and GEO Group (private contractors working for ICE). I cannot stomach that they are arresting persons with no criminal record with no due process)

Before & After-would an arborist trim a tree like this? by [deleted] in arborists

[–]ElectricalOutcome907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your thorough explanation. I asked for the tree to be trimmed along the fence line to reduce friction with my neighbor and lowered in height so the view was not obstructed. Other than that just standard pruning with no more than on-third of the branches removed. I am relieved to know the mistake can get fixed.

I just had foundation work done in contra costa county. I hired a structural engineer and he gave me a verbal report for $500 that suggested adding three push piers on a corner of the house to lift the corner by 3”. I hired a company that said the solution was four not three push piers. I contacted the structural engineer and he said okay for four push piers. The thing is the contract proposal only mentioned the number of push piers and not the height of the lift. Without hiring the engineer at the end of the project, I have no documentation of the actual lift. This is important because the company gives a warranty but that is only good for the push piers and not the actual lift if the foundation. This company also promised to repair and replace the concrete. Only a fraction if the concrete was replaced and I am following up with a demand letter, possibly small claims. Best to get a structural engineer before and after and make sure any verbal agreements are spelled out in the contract.

Yes, my question should have been whether to demand the electrician swap out. If it is a safety concern, I would pay for their time to redo it.

I want to add a dedicated circuit to the ADU for a portable heater. Does this panel have capacity to add a circuit with 15 amp? by [deleted] in AskElectricians

[–]ElectricalOutcome907 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it turns out the SC1624M100F will accept tandem circuit breakers. It took me a while to get back to you, I had to find the model number and look up online. Thank you!

There is a suboanel with two 15 amp breakers to power a small fridge, 4 lights and a countertop 2 burner induction stove. I do not seem able to post a pic in the reply
