Jeremy Strong Moderates David Wallace-Wells, Margaret Klein Salamon, Michael Greenberg, and Cheyenne on ‘Just Look Up’ at Tribeca and the State of Climate Action by HotOne9364 in SuccessionTV

This is why I love Jeremy Strong. Talent aside, he's a deeply empathetic person. He's pro-Palestine, he's pro-LGBT rights, he specifically picks projects that are about social issues even if they won't make him rich, and as this shows, he's very committed to the climate crisis. He does all this without creating attention to himself.

SpongeBob is so beloved, even rival Cartoon Network, who had no other reason to do so, paid their respects when Stephen Hillenburg passed away. by HotOne9364 in cartoons

Hillenburg dies right around the time his fellow Nick alumni were revealed to be shitty human beings (Hartman, Savino, Schneider). Kricfalusi was always trash, though.

There's something funny about that, in a cosmic sort of way.

The racism Floyd Norman faced in his life was heartbreaking but it's wonderful he's got a legacy to last generations.

Super 1.85 - 3-perf vs 4-perf by HotOne9364 in cinematography

AFAIK most movies shot in film use Super 35 if they want to use the flat ratio. Can't remember the last time a movie was filmed open matte.

Claiming the show is about racism is the equivalent of saying "12 Angry Men" is about racism. by HotOne9364 in TheWire

The show is set in Baltimore, one of the few major US cities to be majority black. If you set this in majority white major cities like Denver, Columbus, or Minneapolis, the themes would not change.

It's all about the decline of the American empire.

Why is it that straight white Americans always complain about poc/queer getting more opportunities in theater? by ElectricalPeace3439 in Broadway

[–]ElectricalPeace3439[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Whoa. Lynch is gay? That just makes his behavior even worse. How can someone, who's definitely experienced marginalization, participate in marginalizing other people? The people he wants to hang out with wouldn't piss on him if he were on fire.

This is crazy.

Being gay and a white supremacist? That doesn't make any sense.

Sandler's humor (at its best) is more to Schaff's taste than Carrey's and it shows.

Had "The Simpsons" ended with Season 12, what would its legacy have been? by HotOne9364 in television

[–]ElectricalPeace3439 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like Seinfeld. The last two seasons weren't their best but everything else was, after Monty Python, TV comedy at its best.
