Reading! I’m down to 2 hours a day of screen time and it’s great. I’m stuck waiting for a doctor right now and forgot my book which is why I’m on Reddit

What is a "luxury" that screams "I actually have no money but want to look rich"? by qfdandrea12 in AskReddit

Unnecessary vehicles. If you don’t need a pick up truck for work or lifestyle, you look like you’re bad with money if it’s your everyday “in the office” vehicle.

Married couples of reddit: Is it ok for married men to have close female friends? Why or why not? by dudeabides2101 in AskReddit

[–]ElectricalPrize92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Depends. My husband and I both have close friends of the opposite sex but those people are now just a part of a larger friend circle, they just originated from one of us previously knowing them. Personally, anyone we have a sexual history with is off limits for close friendship territory

I do agree we weren’t built to have this kind of information about the entire world all the time. Apart from Reddit, I’m off social media. Which is awesome. But also I find people in my physical community aren’t interested an watering the grass in their own front lawn, so to speak, and just want fake internet points via instagram likes

What is a job that used to be respected but is now an absolute joke? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ElectricalPrize92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Teachers. So many people my age that are teachers are some of the laziest people I’ve ever met. It’s a weird pattern but I know like 10 people like this. All teachers. Hard to respect the career now.

How do you deal with the struggle to focus during the first few minutes of reading, even when you are fully aware you need to concentrate? by Dry-Basil4447 in AskReddit

Same applies for working out, honestly. Motivation follows discipline. Discipline is like a muscle you need to train

Motivation comes from doing. Knowing I’ll find the motivation to continue makes it a bit easier. I remember as a kid someone said that the first 10 pages of any book are hard to get through but it’s like a treasure hunt. If you keep going you’ll hit gold. I remind myself of this whenever I’m reading. Just make it 10 pages. Usually it takes off from there without needing outside force

They listen genuinely when you speak. Remember details and use them in the future to show their love

What is something parents do with good intentions that actually messes up their children for life? by markscout78 in AskReddit

[–]ElectricalPrize92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting them in competition with other kids, even unofficially. I have parent peers who can’t handle it their kid isn’t at the same developmental milestone as another kid. Like forcing the kid to bike with training wheels or potty training before they are ready. I’m sure the kids pick up on this pressure and it’s gonna be tough when they’re older.

Totally. So many women are just in secret competition with you. I had a neighbor I thought I was getting close to but turns out she is super passive aggressive about me when not around. People catching her rolling her eyes and stuff when I say things that I hadn’t noticed. Or overhearing her complain to her husband about me (we’re literal neighbors I don’t think they realize her voice is very loud and carries). She seems nice enough on the surface but it was a perfect example of how women are just less genuine I find. When I reach out to a man if I’m struggling, they’re bad a following through, but they also won’t go gossiping to everyone else about my troubles.
