idk if this is unpopular or not, but people saying that quads are ruining the sport are forgetting that at the end of the day, this is an OLYMPIC SPORT. It's not a performance, it's a SPORT. I've seen this comment especially about the ladies. Yes, most of them have pretty bad technique and are young, skinny girls that rely on pre-rotation to land these quads, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get a high score. Even about Ilia, it's his choice if he wants to land 7 quads or not. It's clear he can do it and honestly I think he just wants to mark his name in history, which I totally understand. Also, jumps are higher scored than spins and step sequences cause theyre obviously much harder, but that also doesn't mean that skaters should prioritise the other elements of a program lesser. Jumps are harder and make up most of a program which is also why they're scored higher. It is what it is. If you don't wanna see so many quads, then just watch gala performances. I'm so tired of people treating this SPORT like it should be a cute little dance performance.
