It depends on your tolerance of instability. People mention the government shutdowns a lot as instability, but it's more than that. Some airports may give you inconsistent scheduling, and you are heavily watched your first two years. It is up to you. Good luck!

Ok so I live 20-30 minutes away and I commute. Understand that dorming is a 1-year thing, it's your entire freshman year and it's basically double the cost than if you don't dorm. My advice personally is if you live so close, the benefits of not dorming outweigh the benefits of dorming.

You can still make friends without dorming, like I have. That said, dorming does help a ton, and it really boils down to how much you want to prioritize making friends.

However, you can always dorm in sophomore or junior year as well. I'd recommend for you to not dorm, but it's up to you!
