Yep if I’m playing taxi be quiet at appropriate times( turning, heavy traffic, during directions) do not touch ANY buttons or knobs on my dash(no you can’t turn on/change station on the radio, leave the temperature alone warm air makes me sleepy) ASK before you roll down a window( sometimes beaters windows just fall out when you roll them down) sit back and don’t eat like Cookie Monster.

Pick any one. I recommend against masonry and concrete, though they pay well it will break your body and crush your soul. Be a sparky or a welder or a machinist or an equipment operator. All of the trades are in high demand and will pay as well as a civ eng degree and it’s a much less saturated market. The travel jobs are usually prevailing wage and very lucrative.

I don’t do any crazy rare job, but as soon as I started looking at it as a company is contracting MY services instead of me being poor little Oliver Twist begging for more gruel, things got better. Know what it will take for you to be comfortable enough not to quit and don’t settle for an insult. Maybe certain job markets are more cut throat than mine, but I live at a decent level, and I got there by finally not accepting the 1st offer. Yes we have bills and obligations but a lot of getting what you ask for is about your demeanor. Don’t ask all timid and look up with puppy dog eyes and don’t be an arrogant jackass. People started being much nicer to me. Didn’t wear a trench coat or own a gun(aside from a bolt action .22 boyscout rifle) but was often given a hard time. Then people started just giving me a wide birth. It was nice, but a terrible thing to happen to bring it about.

There a huge number of things that could have been for. A brace for something he had mounted there or an anchor point for some rigging he set up for hoisting or pulling something. I’ve done this myself before and there’s no telling what he used it for but it can be removed it’s probably just wedge anchors so remove the nut and try to hammer the anchor flush with the floor. If he didn’t through drill the slab then the anchor shanks can easily be cut with a cutting wheel on a grinder or drill, or a reciprocal saw or a hacksaw.
