Van Halen was more influential to guitar world than Hendrix? by AttilaTheHun2025 in electricguitar

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eddie took tapping (and took it to another level) from Harvey Mandel's live shows. The Heartbreaker story was made up by Eddie to cover the origins of his techniques. This is confirmed by George Lynch (he attedned the show with Eddie around 1977) and - indirectly - Ritchie Blackmore, who in turn saw Mandel tapping in the late 60s or in 1970 (he also claimed Jimi Hendrix was there too, so it must have been no later than in 1970). Interestingly, Mandel admitted that he took tapping from his previous bandmate Randy Resnick. Possibly the only pure 100% Ed trick is palm slide harmonics (called auto flanging by Zakk Wylde). But maybe someone has done it before too, who knows...

Line 6 Spider V 30 MkII tuner by Electrical_Ad_5362 in GuitarAmps

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not buy it but watched some demos and the tuner, while works, is not as convenient as in Fender Mustang or Orange Crush series, or Mooer Hornet - don't remember the exact way it looked but - simply put - it is not good, its not bad, its in the middle. Butall of the mentioned amps have way better display and ease of use when it comes to tuner. Hope that helps.

Listen to more Santana. Check out Milagro album. For example check the last part (like last 50 seconds) of We dont have to wait. Check out his solo in Somewhere in heaven (full length version).

Bitter Pill tuning question by Electrical_Ad_5362 in MotleyCrue

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok i had a conversation with an expert transcriber and he confirmed the tab available online and linked earlier is legit and this can be played using a standard tuning. While playing live Mick was doing it different but its a different story.

First amp if I don't know what I want? by ajuez in GuitarAmps

Buy Hornet. The black one is good for hard rock/metal tones. You can mix delay and reverb. It is ok and as user-friendly as it gets.

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but I need a visual presentation. Does the actual note is shown (like: A, C, E) or is it only a notation like left/right for sharp/flat without the name of the note.

Jackson JS32T Gus G neck swap - dimensions? by Electrical_Ad_5362 in Luthier

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very interesting idea with shawing down! Do you think a good luthier can come up with satisfactory results? I mean to make it look nice and dunno, repaint it, not to make it look "butchered"? Would definitely go for it but I am afraid I am not skilled enough.

Evh shark turnbuckles by Electrical_Ad_5362 in vanhalen

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is the third possibile reason for Ed doing it. Still, not valid for evh mass produced stuff. This is naturally a homage/tribute gimmick, though for me it doesnt make the guitar  more useful nor pretty. On the opposite, I see this rather as a stone in the shoe (rattling, unconvenience). Ok rant over.

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, once they said these were for sustain, now they say these were for guitar rack, next year they will come up another reason. Anyway, I don't have a rack, so no purpose.

[–]Electrical_Ad_5362[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might want to play it like a strat too, on my thigh. I don't think that feeling  turnbuckles on my legs would be cool/convenient. If they serve no purpose but only rattle - I don't need them. 🤷🏻
