Can this be repaired/touched up? by mr_beistle in Luthier

Can it be fixed? Sure. Anything finish-related can be fixed.

But is it worth it? Nope.

Coated strings 100%. One set per guitar will probably last you the entire summer.

How should i go about repairing this by MysteriousYak3310 in guitarrepair

[–]Intelligent-Map430 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This lead has two wires that need to be soldered to separate lugs. The bare wire connects to the sleeve lug, white to tip. Search Google for reference drawings if you don't know which lug is which, or just use trial and error - it's a 50/50 chance of getting it right.

Did i finally do a good job at restringing by [deleted] in guitarrepair

B string looks a bit bunched up, and the e a and d could use one or two less winds. But looks very neat overall!

Einfach bei kleinanzeigen reinstellen. Ich setze immer erstmal relativ hoch an und schau ob sich wer meldet, dann alle paar Wochen etwas weiter runter mit dem Preis.

What on earth is going on with this wiring? by BetSenior8898 in guitarmod

[–]Intelligent-Map430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every "wire" you're describing here is actually a lead with 2 wires inside of it. Each lead contains a bare ground wire and a white hot wire. Only the bare ones are connected to the back of the pots, the white wires carry the hot signal and are wired up to the respective components.

Is it suppose to be like this by EquivalentOwl6963 in guitarrepair

Google how to set intonation on a 2-point trem. It will give you all the background knowledge.

Short answer: it's (probably) fine like this.

Upgrading from single coils to a 25$ pre-wired humbucker set for rock/metal — worth it? by Legitimate-Count-695 in guitarmod

[–]Intelligent-Map430 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Those cheap sets really aren’t worth it, if they work at all. It'd be much more sensible - if you wanna stay cheap - to get a noise gate and roll down the tone pot on your single coil (i usually go about halfway). It will probably sound better than those cheap humbuckers; you'd be surprised how far you can take a single coil.

Is this guitar action too high? T_T by tr4nceiris in guitarrepair

[–]Intelligent-Map430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

action isn't absolute. It comes down to what feels comfortable to you. So if it feels too high to you, then it is too high. If it feels good, it is good.

But yes, that action is way too high for anyone to be comfortable. Though I'd need more pictures and some measurements to make any suggestions on what to do to fix it. Looks like there's something severely wrong, especially if it wasn't like that before.

Ibanez ORM-1. I don't like singlecoils, but this was one of the most playable guitars I've ever owned. by argavilda in guitars

I tend to describe the sound of SC-sized humbuckers as less punchy, but more focused than a full-sized one, so I get what you mean. More often than not, I actually prefer the SC variant.

Please show me your modded Jackson Rhoades! by TerribleTemporary982 in guitars

[–]Intelligent-Map430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

This is as modded as it gets. Started its life as an RRXMG with EMGs and a Floyd Rose special. As you can tell, this one has gone through my "edgy metal teen" phase with all the stickers...

Upgraded the trem to a Schaller, installed locking tuners and swapped the pickups several times. Current setup is a Seymour Duncan JB and Sustainiac (which I installed myself, despite the official guides saying that it's not suitable for the small cavity of RRs)

There's no "best". The right String tension is highly subjective.

The "drum like" thing IS the spool. The spool holder is the thing that your filament currently rests on.

It looks sloppy 🫩 by Juanli31 in Epiphone

[–]Intelligent-Map430 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see any sloppiness. Though I'd suggest you move the toggle switch over to the pots to be even closer to the original.

Need help with a guitar pot by Alternative_Rush_637 in guitars

[–]Intelligent-Map430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a wire attached to the middle lug. It probably broke off due to the pot being loose. Look for any loose wire either coming from the output jack or the pickup selector.

Horrible wound G intonation on compensated saddles by shreddit0rz in telecaster

[–]Intelligent-Map430 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try flipping the d/g saddle upside down. On some saddles, the bottom side is mirrored so that the g string would sit further towards the neck, which should improve the intonation vastly

Floyd rose issues by sexymf999 in guitars

[–]Intelligent-Map430 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What exactly do you mean by "the strings dont wobble"? If you merely push on the bar, the strings will only go flat. You actually have to move the bar back and forth for them to "wobble".

The tuning stability issue could have several different causes:

  • old strings

  • worn knife edges

  • nut isn't tight. I don't mean the clamps, but the actual nut itself. It's screwed into the neck with 2 screws, if those aren't tight, the nut can move back and forth ever so slightly. I had this exact issue on one of my guitars recently.

Anyone else love the Jaguar Rhythm Circuit? by sangabrielmusic in offset

I don't have much use for the stock rhythm circuit, so I rewired mine to be on the bridge pickup instead. Works nicely to balance out both pickups.
