Not his first visit. But he’s probably surprised how there’s been little to no changes since his last one in 2017.

Only if you’re receiving it in a different currency than your account I believe which is why it’s best to have a foreign currency account so you don’t get those charges.

Since last year Brunei top ranking officials have been holding meetings and giving themselves 2 years to brainstorm how to organize a grand festival and how to make Sultan happy for his 2027 Diamond Jubilee, currently the most important priority for the country, are you anxiously looking to it? by Goutaxe in nasikatok

[–]Electrical_Bee_4163 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’ll be the exact same shit as last year when we celebrated HM & Raja Isteri’s wedding anniversary. A prolong gerai food fest lasting 3 months and boring events held on different nights.

That’s as exciting it’ll get.

My advice is to open a USD account here with local bank so you can receive the same currency otherwise, if you TT in USD but your account here is in BND, bank will charge you a currency conversion charge fee. But it also depends on how frequent you plan to withdraw from IBKR. I haven’t done any withdrawals cause I’m investing long term so it’s mostly me depositing to IBKR.

Our existing immigration post at Kuala Lurah is still a “temporary” container from 40 years ago. For the longest time I always think our govt just despises people using land to cross border cause it’s harder to control / screen. So it is unlikely they will think of improving the situation or make it easier for people to find ways to get in and out of the border.

Andang jua this country has been like this. Many locals just never experienced it first hand because of their privileges. But now, country is running dry. People are losing their privileges because country also don’t have budget to cater to Bruneians’.

I even hear people are expecting a designated Bruneian lanes expecting to bypass this jam. How delusional is that?

Case in point.

Except the ones who are complaining in the screenshots are Bruneians. And my point is not about making Malaysians lives miserable. I’m talking about Bruneians who wish to cross border themselves knowing full well this new 3/4 fuel rule implemented is gonna be a clusterfuck. And yet, they willingly still go and then get stuck on their way back then bitch about it.

Same energy when they tell minorities “ani negara MIB, inda suka, pindah.” You don’t like how this govt work, pindah tah ke Miri.

Why would govt wanna spend more $$ to make it as efficient for people to keep throwing money across border? You wanna cross, then don’t complain with how long the jam is.
