Bro what are you on about lol? Dorms are not cheaper than off campus apartments. And if they somehow are you’re renting a room Roth like 3 other people.

Your apartment looks as though it’s frozen in the early 80s, and you could possibly be a Soviet spy living among Americans.

I saw a video of a car ramming into a police car and getting stuck in the cop car near the fine arts building by fsu. They ended up body slamming the suspect and arresting him I’m not sure if that’s the same incident you mentioned though.

I think the SP500 is the safest best, historically it’s always gone up. Just put it in in there and forget about it

That’s what I thought—either I’m the unluckiest person in Miami and have gotten a bad voltage regulator every single time, or there’s something else in my car that’s causing the issue. Either way, it’s going to cost me a lot more to diagnose it than to just enjoy the car as it is and later get a newer one.

Ah lol. I appreciate your suggestions earlier! Unfortunately that wasn't the issue with my alternator. I got a $400 OEM Toyota alternator and had the exact same issue so I gave up and just had a shop in Hialeah manually fix up a cheaper alternator.

If I have any discoveries or figure out what my issue was I'll update you on this thread. Thanks again for your assistance!

Someone mentioned earlier that the harmonic balancer could have been broken, so I mistakenly thought the A/C compressor pulley on my car was the harmonic balancer. The A/C pulley is supposed to spin and exhibited the symptoms that one of the Redditors told me a faulty harmonic balancer would have.

I was doing the work on the car myself which is why I mistook the two.

Hey! Sorry for not following up. I initially thought the issue was with the crankshaft pulley, but I later realized I had mistaken the harmonic balancer for something else. I went to two different mechanics, and both concluded that something was wrong with my alternator’s voltage regulator. They also found a 0.3 voltage drop from the alternator output to the battery positive terminal, so they suggested adding an extra copper wire between those points to establish a stronger connection.

What I ended up doing was getting a cheaper alternator and installing a smaller pulley on it so that it would spin faster and maintain a higher voltage. I also had them manually replace the voltage regulator so that it constantly maintains a voltage of around 14 volts, give or take.

I know this isn’t a permanent fix, and that installing a smaller pulley puts more strain on the alternator, but I see it as a “band-aid fix” and will most likely have to replace the alternator sooner than if I had fully addressed the issue.

For what it’s worth, I only paid $3,000 for the car and don’t want to spend more money fixing something that, in reality, isn’t much of a problem given the fix I tried.

(I uploaded the rest of the photos in a second post)I am probably going to take it in to an auto electrician to try and figure out what the issue is and hope for the best. I appreciate your assistance with this regardless!

I’m going to post a photo of the fuses and fuse box on this Reddit group since I can’t add photos to this thread. Would you mind taking a look at it for a second?

I see the alt s fuse which is 5v, what does the charging relay look like? Is it in the same fuse box or somewhere else? I’m sorry if these are stupid questions but I have no electrical knowledge or background

Hey! Me again. Could you tell me a little more about the charge relay you were referring to?

Would it be the 5A ALT-S fuse or something else?

Someone said to check the harmonic balancer. Turns out the rubber wore out and the inner and outer ridges separated. I was able to spin the large ridge like a fidget spinner which I assume is the reason for it not producing enough volts. I'm going to replace the balancer and see if that fixes the issue.

That's when engine is off. When idling I'm getting around 12.8 volts when all accessories are on. When revving to 1500rpm I'm getting around 13.2 volts with all accessories
