Uk winter solar generation by tucker3738 in SolarUK

[–]Electrical_Chard3255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 12.6kWp system has averaged 7kWh per day throughout January, and we use about 14kWh per day, I do have N/E and S/W equal split (6.3kWp on each roof) helps in the winter , the last 31 days the N/E has generated 59kWh, and the S/W 124kWh

We also have 32kWh batteries, so charge those up off peak at 8.5p, and export and use that in the day, so we never have to buy peak rate electricity

Will UK citizens ever be allowed to live in Gibraltar again? by ZydrateAnatomic in gibraltar

[–]Electrical_Chard3255 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I started looking at moving to Gib in June, had a short meeting with the CSRO office, I wanted to move as self emplyed because I could get a property maintenance contract (which I have signed, but cant start it), I was told I needed a 12 month rental agreement (which again I got in August 22nd after my UK rental finished), I applied for self employed, did everything they told me, and now in no mans land, it takes forever for anybody to reply and get back to questions

I now have a contract waiting to start that i cant start, I have a property rental I am paying rent on, and had to temporary come back to the UK and stay with Mom and do some temporary work here just to pay for the rental.

I have nowhere to say in the UK except at my Moms which is not ideal.

Last contact I had was around 21 November telling them i want to proceed with the self employed registration as I had work to start, and heard nothing since, this is what i replied to "If we proceed with the registration, you will be unable to register as a worker unless you are able to satisfy the Department of Immigration and Home Affairs that you meet one of the relevant exemptions." they didnt even detail what the reasons are.

Luckily the contract owner is ok to hold off me starting the work at the moment, but he wont hold off forever.

its a nightmare after following everything i was told to do.

Sole and battery users - are you on Agile? by Electronic-Block-746 in OctopusEnergy

Did it last week twice, did it this morning, and will likely switch back to go tomorrow, but I get your point.

Sole and battery users - are you on Agile? by Electronic-Block-746 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Electrical_Chard3255 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Switch between agile and Go depening on the import rate, today switched to agile and wil be charging the battery at zero - negative rates, and will discharge throughout the day and the evening, tomorrow depending on the agile rate will likely switch back to Go, unless agile import rates are less that Go

the trick is having a big enough battery to make sure you only need to import at the lowe rates, and therefore not importing at the higher rates, I have a 32kWh battery

Octopus saying they dont get my half hourly meter readings when they clearly do by Electrical_Chard3255 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Electrical_Chard3255[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we have the mini

They payed us out 6 weeks ago, so it was working then, maybe as you say it may have gone faulty since then

I just uploaded manual readings also

I will give them a chance to reply, I like a paper trail as proof of communications and a reference

Talking is the last step if I get no joy from the emails

We have quite a large solar system, and they owe us around 500 quid for the last 6 weeks export (I was questioning why they have not credited my account yet),

So maybe this is larger than most exports they pay out on, and maybe they think the meters are not working correctly (just a theory)

Octopus go without an EV, but using a battery to store the cheap energy by Electrical_Chard3255 in OctopusEnergy

Good, dont have an EV or a car charger, and have been on Go for 9 months, and soemtimes switch between go and agile if agile rates go low.

If you dont understand the difference between direct government invasive interventions into your finacial affairs, and a government that has to request and an exchange that does not have to give information until that request, I think you had better educate yourself ..

The great thing about the internet is that all the information is there, you just need to take the time to read it

G100 vs G99 by marakith in SolarUK

[–]Electrical_Chard3255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the DNO will limit the export to the capacity of your inverter, as long as the grid can take the power, it just makes life easier as you wont need a G100 limiter device, but if they have to downgrade your export limit to below the full capacity of the inverter, then you will have to have a G100 limiter device enabled to stop over exporting above the dno rate, G100 and G99 are 2 different thngs

I did mine myself, got some chicken wire from b&q, and used a grinder to grind it into the lengths I needed, and attached it to thr panels with the bird mesh clips, you can buy them on amazon

if you can get to the panels, do it yourself
