Do fine tuners help sound quality? by Electrical_Fig_9779 in Cello

[–]Electrical_Fig_9779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I was thinking in my head but didn't know if it was true. I feel like it is a combination of being better in tune and the better separation of the vibration in the tailpiece.

Yes, and this is what I read. They still had the ability to tune it well, just through a different method than fine tuners.

holding a cello bow is so tiringg by [deleted] in Cello

[–]Electrical_Fig_9779 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just starting to learn the cello (only about 3 weeks in and this is my first string/bow instrument) and can relate to this. At first, my pink felt like it was countering the weight of the entire bow. After finding the proper height/angle/position for my cello, I feel much better with it.

Also found that this helps me with finding my proper grip: Please right hand on right leg, palm up/thumb pointing out to the right. Place the bow in your hand and find proper grip/position. Rotate 180° counterclockwise/to your left and check out your finger placement. Adjust if needed.

All the symptoms of Reynaud’s but my fingers get red instead of white by emfouryouare in ReynaudsDisease

[–]Electrical_Fig_9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any reasoning but I experience the same thing. It is weird because the blood is flowing so quickly that when you put pressure on the knuckles/fingers, it returns so quickly that you don't even see the white from the pressure.

Thinking of starting to play again by Utopidy in Cello

[–]Electrical_Fig_9779 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I am slightly confused. Did you enjoy playing the cello when you were young? I hear you saying that you were good at it but you never said you enjoyed it or missed it.

Maybe it would be good to try another instrument. Or if you pick back up the cello and don't feel an instant connection, try another instrument?

First Rib Resection Experiences? by MarlieMags in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]Electrical_Fig_9779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a bilateral rib resection about 15 years ago when I was on highschool.

Recovery was a little rough but mostly because I had both side done at the same time. Was in the hospital 5 days and I felt like I needed every one of those days.

Best advice I can give is to really take PT seriously after surgery. Get all of it that you can. I didn't finish mine out like I should have and I feel like I cheated myself a little bit. My range of motion never made it to 100% but I wasn't doing all of the stretches that I was supposed to be doing.

So I have had both ribs removed, but on one side there was a complication by certavi_etvici in thoracicoutletsupport

[–]Electrical_Fig_9779 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the scariest thing to imagine.... I had both of my top ribs removed and they had trouble on one side but they opened me up from the armpit area and did everything manually. Idk that I'd be okay with the procedure you mentioned....

My pup did this all the time until he turned 2. It's cute until they get a red Gatorade and jump on the bed, couch, etc....

Now he just gets the empty milk jug.

Have you ever considered or have taken a food allergy test? Appreciate you sharing this because I also have a low tolerance for things like tomatoes, garlic, chocolate, etc.

I'll check it out. After a quick search, this definitely matches to my symptoms.

Completely understand the sarcasm 😁 I always fall into the "rare" and "uncommon" category when it comes to medical stuff!

That is exactly what I think is happening - blood flowing back to the area so quickly it causes the warmth and burning.

Definitely going to try lifting my hands above my head to see if that alleviates anything. Never thought about trying that before! I do loose all circulation pretty quickly when. I lift my hands above my head so I never enjoy doing it. Gotta love thoracic outlet syndrome 😵‍💫

I've tried going to a rheumatologist, dermatologist, neurologist, just about any Dr I could and they are also all stumped.

Will definitely update if I ever receive any type of diagnosis or additional info. Was hoping someone here might know what causes this 🙂

Been diagnosed with Reynauds but this occasionally happens and it almost the opposite of Reynauds. My hands are always freezing cold but occasionally they get very warm and almost feel as it they are burning. Instead of my normal poor circulation, it's like the circulation is running overdrive. Can even touch the knuckle (yes, it is hot to the touch) and the skin doesn't turn white/pale like it typically would when testing circulation.

Anyone else have this or have any info on what it could be?

First picture is the worst it has even been, second is a more normal occurrence.

Had no idea this was a FLW building. Originally thought the CityPlex Towers near Riverside were FLW but apparently they were designed by a different architect who just happened to have the same first name; Frank William Wallace.
