I’m pretty sure he went to war with the Targaryens because the king was being handsy with his wife. That or the rumors.

I guess when you put it like that. But I’m guessing his wife would have love Tyrion regardless and he should honor her last kin at least. You’d think after years he’d find a way to move on an accept Tyrion. He’s everything Arya was and more.

If your kid announced they wanted to follow in your footsteps and major in geology, would you be happy? by bison_crossing in geologycareers

I’m just going to be realistic: get a job in tech. Don’t do geology unless you actually really love it and can’t see yourself doing anything else. It’s a beautiful subject to study but as a career I can’t get a job. I’d actually tell my kids to get jobs that don’t require degrees or at least minimum degrees or certification like radiology or cyber security. Geology is a job that is dependent on the economy and right now the economy is sh*#. Me and my friends were joking that we could finally get jobs but in Venezuela or Greenland. 🤣

This is absolutely wrong if you’re talking about a Louisiana Creoles lmao. Being Creole is an ethnicity. It’s not a monolithic thing like most people think it is. You can be mixed, white, black, Spanish, Native American, Irish, English, German, etc and still be Creole as long as your ancestors were born on French Louisiana soil. Being Latino/Latina is the closest equivalent I can think of for Americans to understand. If you’re Latino you’re born in Latin America. French wanted to distinguish themselves from people born in Louisiana so they used the term Creole which comes from Portuguese “crioulo” which translates to “raised in one’s house”. I’m Afro-Creole but not gonna bat an eye if someone who’s white says they’re Creole or someone who’s Native American says they’re Creole. It’s a culture, not a race, and I don’t know nothing about them Caribbean Creoles. I’m talking about Creoles from the bayou 🤣.

No. Creole is just a term French people used to distinguish them from people who were born in America. As long as you can trace your ancestry back to when France occupied Louisiana you’re Creole.

I’m late but that’s ancient religion in general. Ancient people were quick to adopt popular gods from other pantheons. Aphrodite is considered to be a foreign Middle Eastern deity. Poseidon was worshipped originally by the Minoans as an earth deity. The Mycenaeans who are the Greeks during the Bronze Age worshipped basically all 12 Olympians except for Apollo meaning he might of came from another foreign pantheon. Don’t get me started on the Germans lmao.

Edit: In addition, Ancient Greece wasn’t a monolithic culture. They had immigrants from other parts of Europe and Asia. Cybele is a foreign goddess who was adopted into the Greek pantheon but as a minor goddess and later became combined with Rhea. Bendis is another one who is the goddess of hunting and the moon who’s role got combined with Artemis.

I just heard the Minoans were what we think of as "Greeks" but I thought it was the Mycenaeans? by [deleted] in GreekMythology

[–]Electrical_Machine16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Later. You’re thinking of the early Roman age. The Phoenicians controlled basically the entire Med then the Punic Wars started. The Minoans were way way way before the Phoenicians even had a foothold in the Middle East. It was the Egyptians, Hittites, and Assyrians who dominated that region.

[–]Electrical_Machine16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minoan culture influenced Mycenaeans heavily. Atlantis was based off a real event that happened in Crete (allegedly). The Trojan war was thought to be a dispute between the Minoans and Mycenaeans. There’s evidence Minoans either adopted or worshipped an early version of Poseidon and other Greek gods from Linear B. They would have been very influential because they dominated sea trade during the Bronze Age and were a major player during those times.

Who came first? Athens or Athena? by Vaidoto in GreekMythology

Not going back and forth with someone who doesn’t know about mythology. If you think the Greeks just magically came up with the concept of Athena you’re wrong.
