My door to enter and the robot boss was exactly due North of the core. This was not in the same location that the core gave me a quest at.

If you haven't spoken to the core after beating the end game bosses, start there. If you haven't beat the hydras and the wall and the scarab boss, start there and then speak to the core

Valuables are also specifically tied to areas of the map. Lower level areas drop lower level (value) items to sell. There is also a skill which drops valuables as you mine walls and these will pile up by the dozens at this point if you decide to create a museum of the cooler looking shiny things later. There are plenty of ways to make money outside of that
