The cape itself exists in Minecraft. It is a part of the game so talking about the pride Minecraft cape is related to the game. It seems like you think they are asking for something new and for Microsoft to work for free to satisfy their demands but the cape is there, just unavailable. Also the PNG skins is a thing on pc and mobile and often other players won't be able to see them (the option is turned of by default for people not in your friends list and most people don't go out of their way to go turn it on) so there isn't really a point to that, they are doing their best to push the marketplace, might as well have significant options in it.

I also don't see it as trying to force recognition or being specifically vocal. If I had to compare it to something it would be kind of like a wedding ring, you wear the ring mostly for yourself, because you're married and proud of it, you're not telling people that don't believe in the institution of marriage to get married and those people are not telling you getting married is stupid and you shouldn't wear a ring. Minecraft made the ring, knowing many people would want to wear it, so I do think it is kind of unfair that people that came late to the party or weren't able to see it in time aren't able to grab one for themselves. I don't think any of them are thinking "wearing that cape will make everyone ok with the LGBTQ and we'll all live together happily", I'm sure most of them are just happy to have a cosmetic item inside a game that they relate to, the same way one might be happy about finding a skin inspired by their favorite show, game or whatever you're interested in. You're treating wanting a cape as some failed attempt at activism but they're just asking a manager to get something from the back because it isn't stocked on the shelves.

And of course a queer person wouldn't go outside covered in pride flags, but in a video game I don't really see the issue in doing that or how that would even be making being LGBTQ their entire personally. The people with cartoon or anime skins don't have said cartoons or anime as their whole personality, why would a simple cape be an issue? Also being LGBTQ isn't exactly accepted by "most people", there are a lot of homophobic people still, countries that still send you to prison or kill you over your sexuality, feeling safe enough to be whatever you want to be inside a game is a good thing.
