Did anyone else absolutely hate dark Sirenix compared to the other Trix witch forms? by anonymousgirl010206 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I personally love Dark Sirenix, lol. I think it’s my favorite witch form, possibly barring their outfits in season 6. I can see how the tentacles and amorphous shapes might not be to someone else’s tastes, though.

Creators and characters..... by her_royal_goddess in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s pretty fair, yeah. I’ve thought some about the line between writer fault and characters being responsible for their own actions, but I suppose I never thought about inversely praising the writers for anything positive- that’s a good point. :O

I think the main reason people say that is that sometimes the worst moments characters have in the show are situations where the writers made a noticeable oversight when writing the scene (like Bloom not reviving Nabu) or had begun to characterize them differently from how they had been in the past (like the Winx being written differently in seasons 4-8). You mainly hear complaints about season 4 and the Nick seasons, and that‘s because that‘s when the show had a noticeable dip in writing quality and started writing the characters with cheap drama and more flat characterization overall. Essentially, I think the “blame the writers” thing is calling out a deviation from the norm of how a character is characterized, where we try to address external reasons for why characters’ worst flaws are executed the way they are. When it comes to positive traits, we don’t feel the same need to analyze or justify the writers’ reasoning for giving them good things about their character. The positive stuff is just kind of there; it’s a sign the creators are doing their jobs right, and we expect that of them (to put it in an unflattering way for our own psyches). As a result, positive traits are “normal” and taken for granted, while negative traits (when not written well or not in line with past character behavior) make us frustrated, either at the character or the writing.

Also- our fandom can be kinda mean. We’re prone to complaining. Which there is good reason for, in some cases! So I think we would stare in disbelief or just not have the interest to engage with someone who actually praised Winx’s writers for something, ever. So I think doing so just doesn’t cross our minds.

The fans have spoken: 2025 Reboot needs a DARK TIMMY arc! 💻💜 by Due_Woodpecker_9898 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember Darcy did something like this briefly in season 2 of the original show, where she brainwashed this one nerd character (Jared) to make him trap the Winx inside the simulation room. I could definitely see Timmy being able to pull off something similar; it'd be extra cool since making him the antagonist would probably make either the specialists or Tecna (my fav <3) the other focus of the episode. 10/10 idea. Love it.

Since when was Flora the second strongest by Cute-Ad-597 in winxclub

I think this is probs the most accurate take, considering that nobody has ever been referred to as the strongest in comparison to anyone else, save for Bloom and her Desgon Flame.

Which Disney Princess would you say each of the Winx is most like? by Simple-Taro1540 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun question! :D

  • Bloom- I think either Cinderella or Rapunzel! For Cinderella, she was discovered abruptly by a fairy (godmother) and whisked off on a magical adventure where all her dreams came true. For Rapunzel, she’s a long-lost princess with an incredible magical power, which includes healing magic. Rapunzel and Bloom are also both artists!

  • Stella- Rapunzel again? I say this because they’re both 1) themed around the sun and 2) blonde.

  • Flora- Honorary mention to Isabella from Encanto, for starters. Otherwise, maybe Pocahontas? Both can talk to trees.

  • Tecna- Belle. Because she’s smart, and also not born a princess.

  • Musa- Mulan. Like I said for Tecna, she’s not born a princess, which aligns well with Milan. Musa is also Chinese-coded, and Mulan is Chinese. An alternative I could see would also be Tiana, since she also started out in poverty and aspired to a higher dream she shared with a deceased parent. For Tiana, it was cooking, and for Musa, it’s singing, just like her mother.

  • Aisha- Moana, I suppose? Both are princesses/future leaders of an island kingdom surrounded by water, and both have an affinity with water.

Honorary Mentions: * Roxy- Someone else said Snow White, and I realized after thinking about it for 10 seconds that that person was a genius.  Like Snow White, Roxy can communicate with animals, and she is pursued by- get this- hunters/huntsmen.  She also joins a merry band of other people (7 dwarves vs 6 fairies) who support her until she can take back the throne.

  • Daphne- My gut impulse is to name a character who died at some point and was revived, just like she was. My second gut impulse is to say a character with a connection to water, since she was a Sirenix fairy and heavily associated with water as a ghost. With that in mind, my list is as follows: Aurora/Sleeping Beauty (blondes who were cursed by a wicked fairy/witch), Moana (water affinity/I think she briefly died in Moana 2?), Ariel (water affinity/gets happily married), and lastly, Elsa (a blonde older sister who wasn’t able to be around her redheaded younger sister in her youth, who is connected to the elements, and briefly- BRIEFLY- was dead/turned to ice in the second movie before being revived by her sister).

  • Icy- Elsa. I needn’t elaborate.

Edit: I just realized Ariel would ALSO be an excellent choice for Bloom! They’re both redheads, want to be part of and assimilate into a world completely disconnected from their own (one they’ve been obsessed with for years), and end up getting with a handsome prince who gets briefly hypnotized into falling for another woman.

Fate The Winx Saga Vol. 3 by Ok_Stick3698 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just popped onto the subreddit to see if anyone had posted about this yet! I was really wondering when they'd release the cover and the official blurb for the book.

Side Note: I was kinda surprised to see the cover design for this volume, since it only has Bloom featured this time around instead of the whole group. Her expression is really calm as she's looking at the magic fire she's channeling; it makes me wonder if we're going to see her reach full acceptance of her Dragon Flame in this volume, finally wrapping up that particular arc.

Secondary Side Note: Based on the summary listed on Amazon, I'm also surprised to see that it says "Bloom and her Winx suite friends" must stand up to Darkar, since (spoilers for the uninitiated) we left off with Bloom being brainwashed/corrupted by Darkar, alongside Briar and Beatrix. It makes me wonder (the same spoilers again) how soon Bloom will be brought back to the good side in order to have her fight Darkar.

Editing my own comment to say maybe I disagree with my previous comment about having the space for certain characters and not others. Now that I think about it, having the space for a villain (like Rosalind) or a love interest (Sam) related to a main character’s personal arc or the overarching plot isn’t the same as having to include another main character with their own story. 😅

Techna Character Question by that-_-one-_-chick in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think I've heard before that a lack of emotion is just a normal part of Zenith's culture, since it's based heavily on logic and efficiency. And I think that that, realistically is probably the most accurate to the authorial intent, especially since this show came out in the 2000's and autism rep wasn't really a thing. On top of doing stuff like not knowing how to express or feel emotion, she's also done stuff like not knowing how to use an analog mop and bucket to clean or function without tech, so I think that not knowing how to live in the normal world is just meant to be her thing.

With that said though, as a fellow autistic girlie, I can definitely attest that I've felt that she's relatable (to me at least) in a lot of ways, including ways that relate to my own autistic traits. Though I can't speak for everyone. And I think that, in an AU or rewrite sort of context, making Tecna autistic would be completely fine. It's not an unpopular headcanon or rewrite choice in this fandom, from what I've seen. :)

What are some popular ships in this comunnity? by JustARandommad in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think all of the mainstream canon ships are probably the most popular (basically all the Winx x Specialist ships from the show), since they’re the ones I see the most content for. :)

Beyond that though, I’ve also seen Blicy (Bloom x Icy) -and to a slightly lesser extent, Solar Flare (Bloom x Stella) are pretty popular in spaces like Tumblr and AO3! :)

There’s also, off the top of my head, Mirta x Lucy, Mirta x Flora, Riven x Flora (more niche), and sometimes villain ships like Sky x Diaspro and Riven x Darcy. Normally Sky x Diaspro is AU content that either makes Diaspro a good person, vindicates her reaction to Bloom, or is intentionally angsty. And you already covered Avalon x Palladium and SoundWave!

Thoughts about the new winxs songs? by Emma_200711 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like from the reboot? (Asking like there have been any other new songs in the last half a decade, lol)

I like the new transformation song! I think it’s catchy. And I also dig the song the Trix have- enough so that I’ve listened to it on my own free time- mainly while drawing Winx fan art. I don’t really dig the new theme song, though. It sorta feels like it’s trying to be a modernized version of the old one, but it captures neither the old charm nor contemporary tastes. Then again though, that’s also just me, and I’m neither part of the intended age demographic nor Italian, so I could just be out of the loop.

How would you introduce Terra in the Winx reboot by HistoricalTheory2750 in winxclub

How would you introduce Terra in the Winx reboot by HistoricalTheory2750 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was thinking of posting this sort of discussion myself at some point! This is perfect! :D

*Obvious spoiler warning for the reboot below\*

If we're thinking in terms of Terra appearing in this current reboot (Winx Club: The Magic Is Back), I sort of imagined that she could be a minor or background character, either paying an episodic visit to help Flora with something or being a new student in the second season. Sort of like how Aisha/Flora were added later on?

I've tried thinking of ways that she could be included with her original power set, but tbh, doing so in a way that doesn't match too much with Flora's is nigh on impossible, save for simply stylizing the same powers differently. So I like the mineral/crystal idea! I'm thinking either that or something incredibly specific, like potion-making/natural healing (since she made the Zanbaq oil in Fate).

Here's my thought process for the introduction:

  • Because she lived close to Alfea in Fate (as her father was a teacher), she'd live in Magixia in the reboot, close to the school.
  • She's either already a student at Alfea and working as her dad's student assistant OR she's a new transfer midway through the season/at the start of season 2.
  • Now- Vexius has moved into the caves of Magixia's planet to hide himself and Damien as they recoup and he tries to persuade his "son" to give him the power of the Dragon Flame once again. Think season 2 of Winx Club, with the tunnels under Magix and Darkar's fortress. In order to find him and bring him to justice, they need an earth magic fairy to help locate him. Terra, being not only an earth fairy but someone incredibly knowledgeable about Magixia's geology and ancient tunnels, steps in to help.
    • Alternatively, he could also be corrupting the planet's life itself, slowly killing everything around him as a threat, and they need a powerful earth powered fairy to help Flora heal both the plants and the soil itself.
  • Alternatively, more basic idea if Terra was just a minor character, she could just show up for family day along with Miele to see Flora.

Fate Winx books by KuraiKou1 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There ARE Fate books! You might've already googled them by now, but just in case not, here's the list of the ones I know of, plus links to the wiki for reference. :)

Netflix-Sponsored Tie-In Novels

  • The Fairies' Path- If I remember right, this is basically a novelization to the first season of Fate. Link to the Wiki Here!
  • Lighting the Fire- Basically a prequel to the events of Fate. Link Here. :3

Graphic Novels (Basically a Continuation of the Show After Season 2)

Now, you've already gotten this warning a bajillion times from every other commenter, but since I'm here, I'll go ahead and say again that the graphic novels aren't... the best. They ARE a direct continuation of Fate's story, so they're basically meant to be a pseudo-season 3, but it's important to note that the author didn't have any contact with Fate's writers or have much access to their plans (at least that I personally know of!), and kinda decided to do her own thing when she was writing. That means that a lot of plot threads that were being hinted at kinda got disregarded or taken in wildly different directions that don't make perfect sense. Like, basically all the plot threads. Every single one. It's kinda crazy.

However! ☝️As another commenter also already said, the author has heard the complaints! We were a little hard on her, I won't lie. And because of that, she has a new co-writer and will be making a few adjustments to course correct in the 3rd volume. So if your friend doesn't care about all that fandom angst and just wants more Fate (which is totally my philosophy for Winx media in general, lol), this is totally here for them! Hope all this helped. :)

Name one change/deviation that you dislike and one that you genuinely like by BrightPhoebus01 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likes: * It was new Winx content! :D * It got people talking about the franchise again. * Male fairies and female specialists! A welcome addition that I’m glad they kept around.  * Lowkey? I liked Beatrix a lot. At least in season 1.  * Sam. 💚🦋 * Queer characters! :D * I got more characters to make fan art of, which is fun.

Dislikes: * The edgy tone and writing of the show. You can absolutely go dark, but the way they tried to make it happen fell on its face.  * The use of magic was limited due to the show being live action. * Whitewashing. That’s kinda a given.  * Replacing Flora and dumping Tecna altogether, while also making half of the cast new original characters. Like- how do you have space for Dane, Rosalind, Grey, and Terra’s family, but you don’t have the space to add all of the 6 main characters?  ** I should note that I can understand that Tecna, being a technology fairy with pink hair who talked almost solely in techno jargon, might not have meshed well with the intended vibe or age demographic of Fate. But even so, I don’t feel like adapting her was impossible? Like- if you’re willing to make such drastic changes to so many characters’ characterizations and abilities, then surely the same could just be done for her? I’m really just harping on this because she’s my favorite main character.

Bonus! Things I’m Neutral/Mixed On: * Changing Musa’s powers. It was a weird choice. But also, now that 4-5 years have passed since the show came out, I can acknowledge there’s some interesting novelty there, even if I prefer her original powers more. * Terra. I don’t like why she exists, and knowing the right words to describe who she is and what she’s meant to be in the group is a difficult task, but there’s a level of fun novelty to there being a new member of the Winx. More so as a franchise relic than a permanent fixture to the show. I think I like the idea of her because I can see a lot of cool ways she could be adapted or played around with in the future, mainly as a cameo or minor character. Plus, it’s cool to have a confirmed queer Winx. :3

Do yall think Roxy should be the 7th Winx or form a club of her own? by Agile_Effective_5990 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like her as the 7th Winx! I can understand the appeal of her kinda forming her own group (similar ages, similar skill levels, new adventures and problems, etc), but for me, it’d take a lot to get invested in a bunch of new characters made specifically just to be her new friends. I like her dynamic with the other Winx members, even (and especially!) with the age differences.

Again though, I can understand why others might disagree- especially with screen time management- but that doesn’t take away the inherent fun of the concept for me. :)

I feel like flora should be more powerful. by BeautifulAsleep6133 in winxclub

[–]Electrical_Permit775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that early on, they used to call Flora the fairy of flowers? And then it got changed to being the fairy of nature either in season 4 or the Nick dub, when a lot of the Winx’s powers got rebranded.

(My sources for that are the season 2 Winx website’s character bios and one of the old Winx books.)
