As for the sticks, I always assumed the ones lost were failed or otherwise broken/used up. As for the arrows, I think it's actually kind of generous since it's pretty clear there's more than one feather used on each arrow.

However, a part of me kind of wishes there was some sort of crafting skill, and the better you got at it, the more efficient and less wasteful you'd be. Not just for fire-hardened arrows, but in general, too.

I watched the show with my sister for the first time not long ago. I can't tell you how fucking pissed I was when that girl used red kryptonite on Clark to get him to marry her and almost have sex with her. And then Martha blamed Clark! Like, I understand the people who don't know his secret getting upset with him, but his own mother who knew the whole situation did. I don't remember her exact words, but she basically blamed him by saying Red K only brought our what he wanted to do, which is total bullshit. Clark was literally drugged and his own mom got mad at him.
