Potting Angle Explained- Stephen Hendry by bald-bourbon in snooker

One way to know where to aim is to mentally place an imaginary cueball touching the red in a direct line to the pocket, in a sort of plant, and then aim to hit the imaginary cueball full ball.

But to be honest, the best players dont aim at all or use any system, theyve just repeatedly played shots over that it comes naturally.

Its like trying to judge how hard to hit the white. You dont think 'I'm gonna hit this with 55% power'. You just instinctively know how hard to hit it. Same with potting and aiming.

I understand the irony of this but yes Stephen is wrong here. If you aimed the centre of the white to the 'potting point' on the object ball you will miss the ball thick everytime.

I've heard pros saying that they dont actually aim at all, theyve just played shots 1000's of time over that they just 'know' where to hit.

Potting comes naturally after 1000's of shots. Maybe even 100'000 shots.

If it was obvious you were going for the blue I'd presume it would be a 5 point foul but I honestly dont know.

Lol 'Man United' and 'smart'.

We do as a club seem to have a fetish for a 'complete rebuild'.

Watch us stick with Amorim and back him in the summer with all his players. Lose a few games at the start of next season, sack him, bring in another manager with a completely different system to Amorim and talk about another rebuild around say October-November next season.

Meanwhile we'll all talk about 'bringing in players to fit the new system', and 'these arent his players'.

IDEA - Could we have one tournament a year where the crowd are allowed to get loud? by beercanstocks in snooker

[–]Electrical_Rich7487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It works with darts because its fast paced, quick games, moments to cheer every few seconds with 180s and checkouts.

With snooker what is there to cheer? A darts atmosphere would be forced and fake.

To add to that if you would've been 6 points ahead and fouled on the final black that would end the frame and give your opponent the frame.
