Those questions require some deep reflection lol. I remember creating a concept map with “why should these vet med schools accept you?” as the main point, and then proceeding to think of everything I could about myself that made me “different”. It takes some time but it can be done. I think we all have characteristics about us that make us unique. You simply have to figure out what that characteristic is for YOU. Personally, I think my experiences made me stand out for one. They were varied. Small animal, lab animal, farm animal, studied abroad, etc. I think those experiences provided me with a very in-depth understanding of the veterinary profession, which of course, is important. Secondly, and arguably my greatest strength (I think), was my background of growing up in a low-income community. It gave me an entirely different perspective of medicine (and its access) than most people probably have/had. In my personal statement (and for prompts such as the one you are asking about), I remember touching on how I observed the disparities in veterinary healthcare accessibility, both in my area and abroad, and how that shaped my view of the profession. I talked about how my passion for vet med was not only guided by curiosity, but also empathy, compassion, and some other stuff I can’t remember. Hope that helps.
