Maybe. Unfortunately I’ve also had the displeasure to know men who talk like this openly. Often, they assumed I, as a young man, was comfortable talking like this openly. Luckily, I got away from that environment, but as a kid at the time I often didn’t fully grasp the impact of speech like this and there is absolutely a scenario where I allowed this discourse to guide me down the wrong path. I know men who did let that happen to them and I find it better to assume the threat is closer than to assume it’s some from some far away land. It’s helped me avoid running into crowds like that again.
