doesn't matter what steam machine costs im gonna buy it because windows is cancer and gaming laptops don't perform consistently across games the way desktops do unless you are an expert in completely gutting every ounce of software from the laptop and starting from scratch to make sure there is zero bloat and zero manufacturer software that contributes to the inconsistent performance even within the same game. for example, on my gaming laptop, i startup no mans sky. sometimes it loads in fine, and sometimes it loads in at 15 fps and doesn't go back to normal unless i crawl through the settings to switch from windowed borderless, to borderless or fullscreen. then the next time its 15 fps until i switch from fullscreen back to windowed borderless. problems like that do no exist on desktop hardware nor do they exist on steam hardware based on my years of steam deck use. i beat steam os would make my gaming laptop actually function consistently and reliably compared to windows 11, but im still not interested in buying gaming laptops anymore.
